Dieing for a purpose you believe in isn’t necessarily stupid, but it certainly misses the point of fighting. To paraphrase George Patton, a man with huge amounts of testosterone, the point of fighting the war is not to die for your country, it’s to make the other poor dumb bastard die for his.

Go back to college, get a degree that will lead to your being an officer. The Marines will then be an option. What could be better than being an officer in the Marines? Your friends are drifting in meaningless lives while you defend the greatest country in the history of this planet – sounds like a plan to me.

Loose Tool … this 10count yahoo has got some serious denial issues. 10count I was stationed at Lackland for 2 years, nothing impressed me about your training or your personell. My first day on base I was flagged ( had a weapon pointed in my dirrection) by an SP and his rifle. Needless to say he had his ass handed to him by my MSgt that was in the passenger seat. I was saluted twice and I was a Sgt. at the time, watched as your TI’s rode on bikes to “lead” PT for your trainees, and saw trainees in line at the PX buying candy and talking on phones. I know I am turning this into a pissing contest but maybe you will figure out, we Marines are very proud of our Dicipline, Customs, and way of life. 10count you are pissing on the wrong pair of boots if you want to compare branches. Oh yeah, I think I speak for all the other branches when I say " The only Sister branch I know of is your beloved Chairforce".

Tonight, you pukes will sleep with your rifles. You will give your rifle a girl’s name, because this is the only pussy you people are going to get. Your days of finger-banging ol’ Mary Jane Rottencrotch through her pretty pink panties are over! You’re married to this piece. This weapon of iron and wood. And you will be faithful!

God has a hard-on for Marines. Because we kill everything we see.

OOH RAH!!

I’ll have to throw my hat in for the Marines in this situation as well, even though I was army. Their conduct tends to be very top notch and I attribute it to their training and leadership. The Army was good and all, but I was very impressed with the way the Marines worked…even though you’re all retards.

It seems to me SF Medic is the way you’d want to go if that is the type of field you’re looking for, I’d also drop the “I’m different cause I don’t need this job cause I’m educated and my family is well off” attitude, you won’t get very far if you carry this into any of the basic training courses. PJ’s do get extensive medical training, but if you’re looking to be hardcore for the sake of being hardcore, Marines or SF would be the way to go.

Yeah, slimjim is right. If you pull the “I don’t really need to be here I can leave whenever becuase my family is loaded” bit, you will indeed have tough times.

Tough, tough times.

Everybody loves having a primadonna around, just to pile on, tease and beat the shit out of, and harass.

If I could do it all over again I would go infantry and get all the combat schools they let you do. Your young and I am sure you’ll change your mind as to what you want to do after the service so I wouldn’t put much into what job will benefit you when you get out. You will pick up plenty of civilian world skills while your in.
I served 5 years in the Army as an MP and loved it.

PJ school is just a scaled down version of Marine corp boot camp. Marine Corp is definitely tops for combat units. If you want to go medic then join the army as an 11B and go SF medic when you get the chance, SF medics are trained to do everything short of open heart surgery in the field(slight exageration). If you want to be fat and lazy with limited physical standards then join the Navy or the AF.

The standards for the Navy have changed. You’re evaluated on your fitness almost as much as your day to day job, and if you fail a single fitness test it’s grounds for administrative discharge. How you look in uniform and how well you perform under stress are major influences on advancement and performance evaluation. It’s something Corpsmen have exhibited for a long time and the rest of the Navy has followed suit.

So, take your Navy comment and shove it directly up your ass.

and get a clue.

When I got out of the Army 6 years ago there was still basically no physical standard for the Navy. I apologize if it has changed but if I remember correctly either the Navy or AF’s physical test was riding a bike and checking your heart rate. I’m not taking anything away from anyone branch because they are all equally important to the overall mission. Maybe you could enlighten me as to the Navys’ physical fitness standards and physical appearance standards.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to everyone. First off, sorry if i came off as saying “I’m rich and don’t need to do this”, I guess what I ment to say was that I not joining the military because it’s the best financial choice in my life. I’m joining because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do for pride. Something like the movie “4th of July” with tom cruise. He goes off to war and gets paralyzed while one of his friends stays behind and runs a resturaunt. The movie shows how shitty Tom’s life is, but I would rather be him with my pride than to be the resturant guy with my legs. Once again to defend myself, when I was talking about my grades and scores, I wasn’t saying that I’m so smart and so on, I was just saying that I didn’t think I was the average guy interested in the Marines. A lot of people on here have told my how much of a retard I am. I now realize that the military isn’t just for the people not smart enough or rich enough to go to college. With my plans, I’m not interested in the military for the college money, because I honestly hated college. It just wasn’t for me. While you may be thinking, “well, he’s going to get in the military, think its not for him, and quit” I disagree. Thats a matter of opionon that will soon be tested, so we will see. While most of these posts are arguing who has the best force to join, I am positive I want to join the Marines. Not to put down any other branch, as I will take my hat off for anyone who has served in any way, I just see the Marines in a different light. I just see more war in a Marine would be the best way to put it. I see a Marine as someone who joined to go to war, and if they learned a skill along the way, so be it. I see the rest of the branches as more of a teaching place, and if a war comes along, so be it. I know that isn’t true, and a lot of other braches have sections that fight as hard as a Marine, but I would rather be a Marine. I’m not sure who posted it, but someone mentioned joining the Marines, going through boot, then becoming a medic in the AF or Navy. Is this a realistic posibility? If not I think I will look at other jobs I would be interested in that the Marines have, rather than different branches that have medics. Thank you all for your posts, even the ones that didn’t like my attitude. A special thanks to everyone that has served in any military branch. Sorry for all spelling and capatilization errors. Any more help is much appreciated.

Your not retarded…You made up your mind now go sign up and follow through.

I am glad to see you post a reply, we were all bickering among ourselves and getting all worked up. We talk shit but when it comes down to it we work together to get the job done. Let us know how things go with you and update us on your training. Good luck and you have my respect for wanting to serve your country. You will have lots of fun on the Quarterdeck and making sugar cookies in the Pit with your fellow recruits. Your life will forever be changed and your attitude towards America,Old Glory, fellow services and loved ones will forever be changed. You will soon be a part of a service whose victories and stories of heroism echo around the world. We are loved, hated, feared and celebrated and you will soon be a part of this ELITE service.

I can remember the feeling the first time I wore my Dress Blues, I had just graduated Boot and I went to open the door for an elderly man at a local steak house and he asked me to stand fast and he held the door for me and he said “Semper Fi Devildog” he is a Marine who served in WWII. That was the shit, it is what drives me to represent him and Marines who came before me who secured the right for me to serve my country and live FREE in this great country. Here is some motovation and some good shit for all us hardchargers.

I’m shipping out November the 7th as 0300.

And could you guys please give me some advice on whether or not I should keep my job as 0300 or change it to 0300 “Security option”

Thanks

It depends. All of my marines that came from security forces either loved it or hated it. Its a love hate relationship you will learn, its really boring some times and some times its good to go. You want to guard subs/nukes go right ahead, but if you really want to go security forces pick up e-3 (lance corporal) real quick and do whatever it takes for you to get aboard a FAST company (Fleet antiterrorism security team). Either way your gonna have to do some time in the grunts.

Yeah everyone hates the grunts because we work harder than any other MOS.

just a small question is it a really long process as it is over here in britain to join the military.

p.s cant believe your military don’t have a standard basic training. ours is 12 weeks for the army/ navy/ airforce (what a load of crap that is might as well not have one) and its 30 weeks for a marine, before going to your foundation school.

army infantry basic is 24 weeks.

Yes, you are a retard. Born on the 4th of July? You’re taking life lessons from a shitty Tom Cruise movie? read the book by the real Ron Kovic, see if he would have joined up again.

You’ve been sold a faulty bill of goods; you’ve confused your country with your government. Don’t do it.
