US Teachers' Hours Among World's Longest

What a big boy you were! Sooo smart that school just bored you huh? Please tell us more of this fantasy.
So?

As soon as I was able to read and write I was allowed access to the school library and could read whatever I wanted.

If I took the tests and made no problems, my teacher did not care at all, and, looking back, it was the kindest thing she could do.

After she fell and broke her leg her substitute teacher saw things differently, I had her in tears in less than a week.

I have a sister that is much younger than me (12 years) . She is ten years old and I have here doing algebra that she wouldn’t be starting till grade 9/10.

I without a doubt will either home school my kids or send them to a private school. If i’m not in a position to do this then I would wait and not have children. The public school system is a disaster. I can teach my sister in a week what she would learn in school in 3 months in public school. Truly pathetic. The system teaches to the lowest common denominator and discourages independent thinking and achievement. When the kids that are faster finish their work they either get to go play or clean the classroom. Never are kids pushed to the next level. This is whats typical in a B.C public school.

To anyone who thinks only the religious would homeschool- I myself am a staunch atheist ( perhaps antitheist…) and a prescriber to the scientific method.
Guess I’m not finished w/this thread now that real people have stated opinions lol.

I agree with all of this. Not sure about Canada, but now our schools are grouping learning disabled students in with the regular students. This is insane, IMO.

The lowest common denominator thing is right on. I come from a family of educators and we all agree on this point. Put the morons in a class for morons and smart kids with smart kids.
So you agree that public schools are doing things that are “insane” and yet you are opposed to homeschooling ?
Not opposed to it. I just think most parents dont have the luxury of time nor breadth of knowledge to do it well. IN alot of cases, you are left with the child not learning anything except the Earth was created in 6 days and what is on Jerry Springer.

If you don’t believe in evolution, as most religious nuts don’t, you might homeschool your children to keep them from learning about it, right? You don’t believe christianity has been anti-science for thousands of years? You know what I meant, you are just pissed that it is true.

So much hate here. More personal attacks. More BS about professor this and fraud that. If you are not rich and vote to lower taxes on the rich, while services you use are cut, you truely are out of your mind. You people are so far gone that there is no point in debate.
This only demonstrates that you don’t understand supporting something on principle. People of principle vote & support things because they are right, not based on how much money it put’s in their pocket.
uh. ok. Capitalism is based on self-interest, as you like to say. That is a silly statement.

Almost. There is no such thing as an even distribution of wealth.

Even if government could theoretically bring it about they would take more of it for themselves than would be distributed “evenly”.

The market is the only fair way to distribute wealth.
garcia1970 wrote:

Begun by YOU. It seems that you can dish it out but get all offended when it comes back to you. But you’ve always been that way. Could be a mental problem.

Oh wait, I get it now. We need to bang the rich, by taking their hard earned money. And if I’m not rich then I should be for this. But wait, you forgot something, a very important point. If you raise the taxes on the rich (or corporations) and most of them own business, then they will in turn raise their prices which directly effects me in a negative way. And they also loser wages, or withhold raises to the masses. Oh darn…you don’t understand economics do you? Eh…one more topic you just don’t understand.

Very much so they love me to pieces-- You should have seen the father’s day that I had. I’m a very blessed individual.

You start with the ad hominem attacks and just can’t understand why people don’t respect you and look down on you. Funny, I never remember any of my Professor’s acting like this, “Professor”

Well, if you were a real Professor instead of a FRAUD, I might buy that. But I’m guessing your milking the system on the unemployment line right now and you have plenty of time for this.
I teach a class in social media, so I have to plan to perhaps make a project out of this, so everyone can experience these batshit viewpoints and sheer hatred.
Shear hatred? You mean like what you just said to me above? That type of shear hatred? The blind man can’t teach anyone how to see.

And thanks for entertaining us all here at T Nation. We’ve had other FRAUDS, those who claim a 500 pound bench. Some who say they are professional athletes, and now we have a stooge who calls himself a “Professor”. And from this point forward you will be known as Professor Fraud.

Bye

The free market does all those things better than government ever could and there are numerous examples for pretty much all of those services to back that up.

Have you ever actually studied how well what you believe actually works?

I just might believe this over garcia being a Professor.

You guys are the biggest assholes ever. Whatever 72% of Anmericans support raising taxes on the rich over cutting SS, Medicare or Medicaid. Even this will most probably benefit you, as I’m sure none of you are wealthy, you will still bitch.

ok. Get back in your bunkers and put the tin foil back over your heads and finish your pipe bombs.

Zeb, no surprise you are a follower of Fallwell. You are filled with anger and hate just like him. Typical Evangelical --as you Reddog. You confirm all the stereotypes. Like Jesus always said, “fuck the poor and every man for himself.”

Thanks professor.

Your reading comprehension is not very good for being one so highly educated “Professor”. I said, “I am very familiar with Falwell as he was a huge supporter of the greatest modern day President Ronald Reagan.” Now tell me Einstein where in that sentence does it say that I was a follower of Jerry Falwell? Certainly a real Professor would be able to read a very simple sentence and understand its meaning. This is even more evidence that you are…say…a FRAUD!

As for being filled with anger and hate, you begin and end just about every post with a personal attack. We have to take this down a notch. Your blood pressure is probably through the roof having to deal with all of us T Men. Let’s relax man okay?

Why don’t you learn to deep breath? Yeah, get into some Zen, I’ve heard that it can have a calming effect on people like you who have anger issues.

Your Friend,

Zeb

(See, it’s all good be calm—Be the tree)

Double teacher pay, attract better people, get huge payoff in more highly educated citizenry.

Doubling the pay won’t get rid of the 99% of current teachers who are terrible.
