By the way I really like your avatar , what do you call that kind of program ?
I use Linux, so mencoder and gimp. What you’re looking for is a way to convert movie files to GIFs. I believe VirtualDub for Windows can handle it.

Then that’s an environment you developed at your company. I’ve worked for a fair number of companies. Some are like that, others not. I have not seen pencil pushing and gross mediocrity like I did working for the State though.

No i did not develop any such thing . I do not know if you have been a vendor for Corporations . There are advantages and disadvantages . Vendors fit into a niche , if you don’t you will not be a vendor .
I don’t understand what you mean by Vendors fit into a niche. Vendors fill a niche? I’m talking about working the corporate world.
Vendors are basically contract services . Unless you are some one like Haliburton ,it is usually in a very specific capacity and in my situation and most other small vendors it is usually at the customers will. The only guarantee you get from the contract is price per unit

Should the U.S. pull out of Chicago?

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago (221killed in Iraq) AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire U.S.

The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.
President: Barack Hussein Obama
Senator: Dick Durbin
House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Governor: Pat Quinn
House leader: Mike Madigan
Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Mayor: Rahm Emanuel

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% - highest in country.
A culture of corruption that would make a Louisiana politician blush with envy.

Can’t blame Republicans; there aren’t any!

This culture is going to ‘fix’ Washington politics?
If Gun Control Works, Chicago Ought to Be Safe.

IMO they are misstating the problems in Chicago. Which are the War on drugs , and the vast hole in employment left by the vacant Steel industry . A bunch of board kids that have no prospect of a better life

You know I see these threads decrying the lazy and criminal aspects of places Like Chicago and Detroit . The so called conservative wants to ignore the harm their God from so called Conservative land, Ronny Reagan did by opening the doors to steel imports . These were heavy Steel Towns and they have never recovered the damage Reagan inflicted .

I know Youngstown Ohio very well , same story , old steel town , working on 3 generations of no employment for uneducated young men to support a family . Nothing to do but make money selling drugs . Real estate severly depressed , municipalities struggling , rampant crime . No end in sight
Or they could just move to where there are jobs. Novel concept I know.

We import cheaper materials into this country. That’s not going to change, steel is dead everywhere (Baltimore was hurt bad). If American made was cheaper more people would buy American. Seems pretty simple to me.

even if you are poor and have little to move , it still costs money . If all you have enough to live and eat. What money are you going to use ?

last I heard Baltimore is a preety tough place . No one has replaced that steel industry. If you have the extra money (like me) and could move where ever you like then you are not poor

A couple of hundred years ago people would have traveled across America on Horseback to find a job/mold a future for their family and they didn’t have shit either. Anyone in Chicago could fill their gas tank once and be in several other states before it ran out. Those “poor” that murder each other do it because that state and this country lets them get away with it.

They could easily move. You aren’t stuck where you are if your poor. They stay because they can literally get away with murder there.

this is a different world , you could just get up and cross the country on a bicycle and camp out on park benches . eat out of thrash cans . bath in ditches . I get it is an easy task .

I will agree they stay because it is easier .

If I’m not mistaken, steel is making a comeback in the “Rust Belt” right now.
to a degree steel is. Like everything automation is taking the majority of jobs.

I feel like I grew up at the end of some major event . Steel was King everyone made good money , every one had a job that wanted one.

IMO the future is bleak for labor. automation will be driving trucks , digging ditches , picking fruits and vegetables. Before long you will have a small workforce to maintain the robots . People will be obsolete . Kind of like a science fiction movie
