This is great! Fox actually had to fact check itself and speak out against their own hosts who are constantly airing conspiracy theories with no basis in reality:
As it turns out, you can’t just shit talk, pretend that it’s news and get away with it without risking legal action. Smartmatic has threatened OANN and Newsmaxx as well. It’ll be great to see them speak out against themselves as well. Hopefully Dominion will follow suit and defend themselves.
I haven’t seen OAN in a while, but last time I looked it appeared to be produced by some chick who does cam shows for tokens.
They might not withstand a successful lawsuit if it were done well. I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple of law firms bleed them dry for a while then slaughter what’s left.
Every major media outlet has…and has had for years…have entire legal divisions that deal exclusively with the litigation that comes their way on almost a daily basis.
Much like a Corporation like Wal-Mart (that deals with perhaps a couple of dozen suites a day…and rising)…so it is with these major Media Corporations.
Many are frivolous…and IF they have done their editorial jobs…most don’t make it far…but it’s disingenuous to say that they don’t face litigation.
And some make major news. Look up:
Westmorland vs. CBS. Dan Rather was never the same…and it kind of opened the floodgates. The lawsuit emboldened wealthy companies and political foundations to sue or threaten to sue in order to chill the press and kill unfavorable press.
The press has feasted on Russian collusion/pee dosier, Kavanaugh is a rapist, conservatives are nazis and GOP should be imprisoned/executed for treason, with breathless zesl.
Save your weak ass nuh uhs and one case examples when compared to easily seen millions of words and hours of the above.
I really, really liked that STFU video (@eddiealfano). I’m laughing to think it was released on November 3rd. I wish with all my heart it had been more widely disseminated, because I have noticed zero progress on the STFU front.
I have to somehow wrench myself away from Twitter. I’ve noticed my TMJ acting up. My brother-in-law died suddenly this weekend, so maybe that’s it, but talk of martial law and seizing voting machines and NEVER EVER EVER having an end to this motherfucking election are part of it, I know.
Here, let me add it again in easier clickable form. @treco’s reposted vid:
Mufasa beat me to it, but this is about current events that are at least somewhat related to the thread. Of course there are examples of all types of media outlets who’ve been held accountable over the years. What I’m most interested in in this case is that Giuliani and Powell need to clean up their acts.
It’s one thing for Alex Jones or some other tin foil hat wearing lunatics to spew baseless claims. Most people know to just ignore him and others like him, but if you’re on the Presidents legal team, you have some measure of built in credibility or at least you should. I’m fine if they actually have some evidence that Smartmatic actually did something wrong, but they don’t. That hasn’t stopped them from slamming the company left and right and accusing them of being part of a huge election fraud scheme. By the way, the only place Smartmatic was involved in the election was LA County. So according to Rudy and Powell, Smartmatic, by messing with the votes in one county threw the entire election to Biden. I haven’t looked it up, but I wonder when the last time LA County voted for a Republican presidential candidate was? That just shows how absurd their arguments are.
We’ve been over this in this thread already, but my biggest problem with the Elite Strike Force Legal Team is that they’re inconsistent in what they say to the media and what they bring to court. The reason for this is obvious, as they don’t actually have any valid legal arguments. The only court they have a chance in is the court of public opinion.
If you’ve got some current examples of other news outlets presenting clearly false information that is harming legitimate businesses please post it. As a potential current example, (although not election related) last night I was kinda’ watching 60 Minutes in which they did a piece on Sutter Health in the Bay area. Apparently they’ve developed a monopoly and jacked up prices for no other reason then that they can. All while maintaining a not for profit status which allows them to pay no taxes. If 60 Minutes reporting is false, Sutter should go after them because the story could clearly hurt their business.
Show me as story where a major news outlet suggested a GOP member should be executed. Or, to be more specific to my post, show some evidence that Biden or someone on his team have attacked a business with baseless claims and/or suggested, even jokingly that someone should be physically harmed. This is another good one from one of Trump’s lawyers:
There was (and is) a helluva’ lot more evidence of Russian involvement in the 2016 election (favoring Trump) than there is of massive fraud in the 2020 Election.
