I wasn’t sure whether Cali was serious so I had to look it up. Crazy. It seems like according to Trump’s campaign manager that they requested a conditional vote to preserve legal rights pending court cases? Strange.
They cite 1960’s Hawaii flip as the template, and the campaign actually went out of the way to say that they were only casting a procedural vote, which definitely does not have Trump’s fingerprints on it because he would never have said anything about procedure (I doubt he even knows what that is)? Even stranger. It goes against the entire post election campaign rhetoric since he didn’t use the words “fraud” or “stolen”…
This court nonsense is DOA. I don’t have any idea why they would think they’ve got a winning case anywhere. And if you’re going to commit to the step of voting against the population, I don’t know why they would go out of their way to say it’s a procedural vote when it’s been their SOP to make wild statements about theft.
Maybe it’s attempted cover for the republican electors for the inevitable backlash?
I can only assume it keeps the donations coming in. “Fighting for democracy” and all. I have to imagine that donors are not reading the briefs or watching the ridiculous clips of testimony, but rather watching snippets of protest and Trump on their local news stations, then reacting positively to the emails insisting Trump won big and asking for help to prove it.
I am well and truly sickened. I feel today for the first time in a couple of weeks that it may turn out okay, if by “okay” we mean that we limp on with a crippled democracy. But I am profoundly disheartened.
Not angry…but extremely disheartened by the antics of this person we elected President 4 years ago…and by the support of individuals in the Congress and in State Legislatures who are going along with this travesty…
Trump has kept his most ardent supporters with the narrative that they have piles of evidence of fraud that the courts aren’t willing to hear, when in fact the court cases have been about attempting to throw out votes due to procedural issues.
The problem is, for his own personal gain, there is no benefit of him conceding. It would help the country, but he doesn’t care about that. What I’m most disappointed in is the spineless GOP that have enabled him, or at least have been complicit, to undermine our most basic democratic function. This is truly sickening.
One other thing - the argument that “well, if it was your guy you’d be doing the same thing”. No, no, no. I would not be calling fraud without evidence, I would not be calling for a civil war, I would not be supporting a politicians egomaniacal impulses at the expense of voice of the people.
I cannot wait for Trump to slither away, and have his tweets, conspiracy theories and tantrums covered only by the obscure, right-wing corners of the internet.
I’m 100% interested in Chinese influence operations on our lawmakers. But everything I’ve been able to get my hands on suggests Swalwell did not hand over confidential information and has not been suspected of wrongdoing.
Both are becoming more popular Echo Chambers for those who choose them for “news”. Also; both have clearly targeted FOX.
Do you guys have any thoughts on how (or should) FOX respond? My thought is that what FOX’s response will be will depend on 1) which of these two become “Trump’s Network” over the next few years or so, and 2) how fierce those attacks will be.
In the end, I don’t think FOX should try to “Out-do” either. I think Hillary, Obama and now Biden and Harris will give them enough material to not have to “out-do” OAN or Newsmax.
Are there actually Senate Hearings going on to address “voting irregularities”?
Should working on COVID relief be the priority at this point?
Unless there is a finding that Trump won…is there really going to be any changing of anyone’s mind who thinks that this was a fraudulent election, “stolen” from Trump?
Why is it the people who cried about Obama taking away our guns and eventually declaring himself dictator are the same people who want to invalidate an election with zero evidence of widespread fraud to the point you even have some saying that martial law should be declared so we can have a do over?

At what point are these peoples words and actions traitorous? A lot of what is happening doesn’t seem like political opposition, etc… It seems like attempts to undermine the US government through extra-constitutional methods.
January 6, congress certified the election results. Trump just tweeted for his followers to come out and protest on that day… “It will be wild”.
In all fairness, I think Biden has done a pretty decent job of that haha. Meanwhile POTUS, not so much.
Everytime politics come up in real life conversation, the image of me immediately backwards summersaulting my way out of the room pops into my head. Makes me smile everytime haha.
