and @kjm I have been looking at both 538 and The Economist (both above average for credibility IMO). 538 currently give Trump a 11/100 chance. You can look at the individual maps for the 11 outcomes that result in a win. 5/11 involve him winning my state of MN. He is polling negative 8 in MN according to 538s average polling. I don’t think he can pull of a win in MN. Maybe the polls are off by 8 points (that would be about triple what they were off by in 2016), but I doubt it. I think the Economist might be about right, but Trump does still have a chance.
Complaining about people saying that’s racist or sexist in a thread in which no one was talking about it until you came in and tried to shift there…
Other than this dude:
Covid makes all the polling much more suspect. It’s the only thing we can go off of to get a gauge on what might happen. But turnout on Election Day and mail in ballots being lost/tossed out/etc make it really hard to predict.
If you add margin of error to polls and the potential for Covid fuckups the possibility exists for battleground polls to be way off. Now of course MOE could be in Bidens favor and of course Covid issues could impact Trump more than Biden. But if it goes the other way around it might be enough to swing some of these areas that are lean Biden.
To me Covid just brings enough uncertainty in to feel like polling might be fairly suspect.
Ah so it’s racist and sexist to say women and black people once couldn’t vote. I thought it was historical fact.
My bad. I’ll defer to you who brought it in when no one was discussing it so you could drop off a troll meme and add nothing to what everyone was talking about. I wasn’t calling him that he knew it and so did everyone else. But I realize drive by shit posts are hard for some people to resist posting.
I didn’t think you were calling him that. You were trying to invalidate his argument by bringing the -isms into it.
No I wasn’t. I was clearly saying that at one time people would have said that these things wouldn’t happen ever which is the argument that was being made about the electoral college changing.
The only person who brought isms into it and derailed was you. He knew what I was saying and so did everyone else. It’s not “isms” whatever the fuck that means to say at one point people would have said women and black people would never vote.
It’s strange to bitch about people saying that’s racist or sexist in a thread where the only person trying to do that was you.
He doesn’t need the campaign, the media has his back. I have never seen the media have someone’s back so much in my life. I have some conspiracy theories as to why, but man. Remember when Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his fans wouldn’t care? Well, Biden could stangle a puppy and the media would not care, they wouldn’t cover it.
Well, I guess this was stupid and no one cared, but being a man of my word, here is the actual poll:
Have you ever been exposed to Fox News?
Fox News has never even remotely approached the level of brazen lying and partisan propaganda we’ve seen since Trump took office.
I don’t know. I think many on both sides seem to think the media is the biggest problem since it favors the other side. We would need to quantify the levels of deception some how to be able to compare left and right wing media. The right certainly is killing it as far as radio. The left has more total TV / online sources but they are smaller than the big right wing sources. Seems like a tough issue to figure out (with more than an opinion).
Yeah we said this during Obama as well. I get it no convincing anyone that the world is trying to keep Trump from winning 24/7.
That evil Leslie Stahl quoted his own words and it was such fake news he couldn’t even make it through the interview. He’s convinced all of his followers that fake news doesn’t exist if it is about his opponent and only exists about him. He’s also convinced everyone he is attacked when they ask him about what he says.
He needs built in excuses for why he is unsuccessful. He will never accept responsibility for anything. So if he does lose it’s all going to be about how everything was setup against him and nothing about the fact that maybe people are just exhausted from him and would love to go to anyone else that could behave like an adult. Even if that person is older than dirt and not perfect himself.
What has always and will always hurt Trump the most is “the media” broadcasting Trump talking and tweeting. If Trump loses the election it’s because of what he says and types. No possible amount of dirt hurts him like his own speech.
As far as I’m aware this is the first time in modern history that quoting the President’s words has been considered fake and out to get him. Trump has always had a victim mentality and has convinced his supporters that he is a victim. Which is why they parrot what he says.
Which is and always has been opinion radio shows. Limbaugh, et al, have made no pretense of being journalists, which is part of why they are successful.
I actually gave Air America money back in the day. As it turns out, nobody wanted to listen to Al Franken, Marty Kaplan and especially the Kennedy with a severe speech impediment. Not to pick on the guy, but it makes for terrible radio.
Most media today is now openly manipulating the flow of information to benefit the Democrats. That’s terrifying to me, but I understand why some believe it is good to replace journalism with activism.
The Global Times is, after all, quite popular.
In my experience, most of the people listening are not taking it as opinion, but fact. YMMV.
Right wing media doesn’t do this for the GoP? I am not saying either is good, but it seems you are ignoring the role of right wing media (which certainly deceives many people).
I am not convinced one side is more at fault here. Both are certainly guilty if I am a juror in the case against Fox and CNN.
We’re in Pravda territory now. That’s a whole different ball game from having Ted Nugent on a a recurring guest.
Enjoy the slope!
Did the Russians have many opposing sources of media?
You have conspiracy theories about everything, so this is no big shocker.
Listen to how absurd that sounds. “Opposing sources of media”.
Reality shouldn’t be that hard to agree on, but here we are.
Do you believe Donald Trump is a white supremacist?
Do you believe Kavanaugh is a rapist?
Do you believe that Covington Catholic children surrounded, mocked and threatened a kind Native American Vietnam veteran?
Do you believe Donald Trump is a Russian agent?
Do you believe the protests were peaceful this year?
Do you believe that white supremacist police officers are murdered black men for being black?
Do you believe Donald Trump suggested people should inject bleach?
Do you believe all of that merits coverage but the Hunter Biden scandal does not?
If not, what would you say Fox News has done to deceive people on that scale and frequency?
I don’t even get the denial of bias. To the victor go the spoils (entertainment media, news, pop culture, social platforms, academia, and the corporate boardroom), after all. Well played Settle in for a LONG ride. Rod Dreher calls it a soft totalitarianism.
I’m just hoping they’ll allow us to run (employment, types of insurance coverage, etc.) our religious institutions (schools, hospitals, adoption agencies, etc.) according to our moral conscience. Doubt it.
The American experiment is over. Time to accept it and look to something new.
