Not sure of the validity of all this, but thought that it is worth spreading.
Initially read the blurb here

Then follow-up articles from the blurb
If I understand correctly, basically, before or right now, the US has controlled the root domains of the internet, which is IP numbers for websites.
And Russia and China want some UN council to have control of it(eg they get a slice of the control pie), thereby enabling some people (that I/we wouldn’t want) to have an on/off switch for what they deem acceptable/unacceptable.
Also, the article said that Rus/Chi want to ban anonymous posting on the internet, which would obviously ruin many lols, and free speech.
So if all that is true, that kind of sucks, if the internet does become super-restrictive, I wonder if an an internet 2.0 could be built or not.
Seems like this would be a very foolish thing for the US to do, economically-speaking, so Iâ??m also wondering if its just political pandering by the current administration (eg to appease certain fellows, and just wait it out), but who knows what this administration is capable of. Don’t think you could really put it beyond the stupidity that they’re capable of.
If it is true, hopefully this doesnâ??t happen.
