Congrats. I quit for six years but then had of a ‘going postal’ day one day and started up again. Last time it was easy to quit. Seems tougher this time, though I have cut back quite a bit. A pack will last three days now down from a pack a day.

Not too tough. Heaviest cleans were hard to get up from, but the FS’s after were not hard; Catching the bounce well. May split up the cleans and the FS and do the FS out of the rack. I want to get to 225 first though. Clean pulls should have been at 257, I just realized.
Great training Tony. You must be loving the crazy numbers those Olympians are putting up. N Korean guy clean and jerking 3xBW. Absolutely unbelievable.
3 x bodyweight is just sick. I’d love to pull that off the floor once in my life, forget about hauling it overhead.
Love those triples. A lot of cleans are you cleaning for each rep or 1 clean for each triple? An impressive amount of Volume.
Good cutting back on smoking.
4-5 hour commutes taking the better half to work and picking her up since the truck broke down. No training for Albinos this week til it’s fixed or I break…
I’ve had two buckets of fine beach sand sitting my driveway for a couple years. They weigh over 100 lbs together. I also have an army surplus canvas duffel bag which I’ve had even longer. Finally bought some 3-mil ziplocks to make a variable-load sandbag which should be arriving in a few days.
If I can’t get to the gym, maybe I can make a low-tech, low cost home alternative.

1 Clean per triple so far. The volume’s not so much, really. Works out to 18 - 36 reps per movement per week. Most folks get that much in a single session.

A week off didn’t seem to hurt any. C&P was a little tougher than it should have been maybe, but everything else benefited from the layoff. SQ was snappy and confident in the bottom third and snatch pulls were hitting my chest. Getting some good snap there.
the sandbag idea was a damn good one.
Good to see you back in the gym, nice work DCA.
Ben Bruno has an article today and says he takes a week off every ten weeks, and once or twice a year takes around two weeks off. He’s only 27.
Man, the guy’s a pussy…

4 mil ziplocks just came today. I know what I’m doing this weekend: Weighing sand.
Was just watching Fischer’s klokov press vid, and realized I’d forgotten to do my own set last night. Decent excuse to go to the gym tonight…

Felt really good, even though I pulled some intercostals on the CL+FS. Still really pleased that they were relatively easy. Gonna be stiff tomorrow, LOL. Really Good night. Got to train at Strongside with my old bumper plates and RB-bar.
There was a 14 year old WABDL record setter there who asked me “What sort of deadlift IS that?” on my cleans.
Hoping there’s no Honey-Do list tonight. I wanna try some snatching again at Strongside. The boy is outgrowing his clothes, though, so there may be a school-supply shopping trip this eve.

Went to a different gym and couldn’t find the 2.5lbers until CGBP (which was a misload) so I jsut went to the nearest 5lbs. CGBP Felt easy enough so I kept it at 200. Guess I’ll keep these jumps and move on from there.
I don’t know how this is possible, but a 140lb sandbag is MUCH heavier than 140lb barbell… I’m going to have to take out some 20 2lbs bags and work with it at 100lbs for a while I think.

CL+FS is gettin scary. Or, at least, I’m getting mental about it. If I hit the positions, it’s butter. Pretty sure I have 225 in me. I may skip doing 223 and go for the 4 wheels. CL+PP was ridiculous easy.
May start alternating max + backoff and triples sessions.
Too funny, I used to do sandbag training for conditioning and I can vouch for you 140 lbs of sand is way heavier than a 140 lbs. of barbell. That sh*t will both defy the laws of physics and wear you out.
