UnTHINKable [2010]

Anyone else see this movie? Thoughts?

I found it amazing how none of the characters had a firm philosophical base, besides samuel l jackson, despite him emphasizing the ‘common good’ - at least he was consistent.

I thought it was a crazy good movie. Watched it on 1080 Bluray, that was awesome.

SPOILER

Honestly if I was in that situation towards the end with the children and all, I would have been just like the woman that was the main character (I forget the name), yelling “Let the nuke go off!” Or more like the second torturer-guy who just stopped at the end and ran out with the kids.

Did you watch the extended version? The ending was less ambiguous…

Personally, I am against torture because it just creates more hatred and more enemies.

But in this situation, and in this hollywood plot, with the man being obviously guilty, I was down for it.

However, I would not have brought kids and wife into it. They were the innocents. But Jackson had the collective gameplan in his head. He was willing to sacrifice 1-3 people to save millions. All the other characters were topsy turvy. In the beginning, they all shit their pants when he cut off his finger. In the end, it was : “Do what you have to do”. Ah, the reality of nuclear weapons.

Yes there is a difference between committing aggression on someone to stop something like a nuclear bomb to go off and torturing someone to get “information” out of someone that may or may not one.

Well I guess I did see the extended version, I just remember the last scene was the fourth bomb between that wall (next to the room where the 3rd bomb was).

The point of torture is not to obtain information, and anyone who says so is either lying or stupid. The point of torture is to manufacture information.

Tell you what. Lets meet up, you can sign a release saying I can do whatever I want to you, and I get to torture you however I like.

I promise I’ll get you to admit to being a rapist, pedophile, immortal, Batman, and whatever else I decide to “obtain” from you.

Deal?
