Damn you, ya beat me to it. I am probably carrying toxic levels of calcium with all the tums I ate during this game. The DOMinator was great when he had to be as was Kipprusoff, but Franzen tipped it off Giordano,s stick as he attempted to deflect it wide and that’s all she wrote.

That’s the kiss of death man. Goalies will tell you themselves “if you can’t block it clean, leave it alone, that’s my job”.

Vancouver quaffs the Stars. They started strong but fizzled again this year. That puts the Red Wings against the Sharks! Should be a good series, we’ll see if the Red Wings can keep their time in the penalty box under control… GO SHARKS!

I would much rather have faced Dallas because of the time zone thing and the fact that San Jose is very rested. Oh well, We’ll see.

well i will be amazed if the NYR get passed buffalo, but i can wish.

It almost sounds as though you’re comparing kippur to Hasek. That’s just wrong. K was brilliant and faced more than double the shots. H was good when he needed to be, which wasn’t often.

I keep trying to have you Barred from this thread for comments like this, but Mod Laurie is a Wings fan too so I’m kinda screwed there.

edit: It’s frustrating to me that half of the sports psychologists in the country are in Calgary. Based on their home vs. road wins, I have never seen a team so much in need.

NYR is on fire! I’ll be surprised if anyone can beat them at this point.

Well if anyone could have me barred I’d bet on Dave Barr, Barr none. However, barring a miracle Laurie’s on my side and any attempt at barring me will bounce off her like Medano,s crossbarr shot.

Nonsense! They lost at home on Sunday. They’re OK =]

PS. Of course you’re right about the goaltending in our series. Kipprusoff may have been the MVP despite losing it.

good call on fearing San Jose.

GO SHARKS!

Don’t feel bad Wings fans, there’s always next year.

I’ve seen SJ in six or seven as the most popular pundit picks, but I’m going to be a bit bolder. I think the two teams’ strengths and weaknesses match up such that this could well be SJ in five.

Maybe we’ll do better this year as underdogs. An unfamiliar position.

Yeah, I can still see the look on his face.

Round 2 Picks. Fill 'em in.

Ducks/Canucks: DUCKS
(I have game 7 tickets, but they’re likely going to go unused)

Wings/Sharks: Wings
(but close)

NYR/Sabres: NYR
(too hot to stop)

Devils/Sens: Sens
(hopefully anyone but the Sens)

I have the same picks in the west but the opposite in the east. As much as I want to see Shanny tear it up, and really hope he does with Jags, I don’t know if they can do it!

Ducks/Canucks Ducks
(I don’t see this series going more than 5 and wouldn’t be shocked by a sweep)

Wings/Sharks Wings
(I have to pick my team, but must confess this is anybody,s series and I believe it will go to whoever wants it more.)

NYR/Sabres Sabres
The Rangers are indeed hot, but I gotta think Buffalo is ready, close series.

Devils/Sens Sens
(This is just a hunch, but I have a feeling it’s Ottawa’s “turn”, but this is gonna be a long one too)

Geez, Buffalo just put a 3 goal blitzkrieg on the Rangers in the second.

Can’t comment on the other teams since I didn’t follow them but when I compare the Sens to past years, I like what I see and it mostly has to do with attitude. Obviously they have talent but that only goes so far.

Sens in 7.

@ Dave Barr:

BTW, like the Ducklings shot, clever.

Since I already said it earlier I’ll stick with SJ in 5

Anaheim in 5, hopefully more though.

Buffalo in 5

Sens in 7

I agree with the previous poster on the Sens- they looked really good against the Penguins, more like a team built for the playoffs than in years past. It wouldn’t be a complete shock if they pulled off the upset in the next round.

the rangers cant take all theses penalties and expect to win, buffalos special teams are to strong.
