Bohicabob! Great inspirational stories! Would you mind sharing a picture of you in your prime? It seems being a big guy solved some of your problems.

Wasn’t it in Darden’s “BB for old school results” a chapter of the meaning (importance) of wide shoulders (or was it the neck)?

I have myself found, that being a bit bigger, gives some credibility to the negotiations I do at work. Of course you have to say the right words, and mean what you say - even make a serious impression. But - I find it interesting that a bigger stature may provide some benefits! (Or maybe it is just a question of self esteem?).

I have a pic of myself somewhere weighing 208# - I weigh like 165 now, many decades later.

My looks continue to scare relatives, friends, and most folks fortunately, and sometimes, unfortunately. Attitude and reputation are another couple of “items” that can be used at work to get things done, and outside of work, to prevent bad things from happening to family and friends for example. When family, friends, and outsiders learn what I was capable of, and accomplished, in life and death situations, a bit of respect on their parts helped speed things up, so to speak, in making good on accomplishing goals, desires, etc.

At the same time, looks can be deceiving. I grew up among some of the largest and strongest men on the planet, but these men were unknown to almost everyone outside of my world to this very day. Well one of the strongest natural-born men (Frank) did not “look” the part (and incidentally, neither did his father nor one of his uncles). Well, when Frank’s National Guard unit was called up for special training because of the Vietnam War, he and his unit were sent to another Army base for such training. Frank was a quiet and very low-key person unless he knew you. Well, an Army Sergeant started picking on him for some reason so Frank got a bit tired of this so he had the Sergeant follow him to the front of an Army truck on the base … where Frank used ONE of his hands to tighten all of the lug nuts on one of the truck’s front tires a bit better - end of all “trouble” from this Sergeant! LOL!

So what you say is spot on. When you get close to your genetic max…these programs don’t matter too much. I used Dardens program at Gainesville Health and Fitness back in 2000. I used High Intensity Training and later his 30/30/30 program. Prior to that I used Heavy Duty. Did I lose muscle? Nope. Did I gain muscle…nope. A high volume program also did not make changes. After i hit 10 years of hard training in my 20s, I stick to about 212lbs of lean mass even into my 40s. My body fat is the variable (20-45lbs). The programs do not matter as much as effort, nutrition, and time.
