What I wonder about is just how much of Britain’s woes are due to governmental mismanagement and incompetance. ie The Tories are continuining bad policies of Labour that they campaigned against. It appears to me that what is happening is not incompetence but a deliberate design, that has been carefully orchestrated and continued from one government to the next.
If you watch Glenn Beck he talks a lot about the ideology of Cloward and Piven. Which is based upon the idea that if you can overwhelm the welfare rolls with more dependents than can be supported you will crash the system and foment unrest so the government has an excuse to impose a new system. It occurs to me that with the economy in recession, millions of unemployed people on the dole, the only reason why they would continue with the policy of adding to the welfare rolls with mass immigration is to collapse the system.

Sifu, you are one of the better posters on this site. But, rest assured Obama DOES NOT want to be known as the President who collapsed the system. He wants to be a two term President and leave a legacy of success much like his predecessors wanted. I too watch Beck, but I also take much of what he says with a grain of salt. I would advise that you do the same thing.

this is strange. I am agreeing with Sifu too. Interesting times.
We have had a generation of shit politicians. The only politician in power I had the inkling of respect for was Alastair Darling who said it like it is (we’re f*cked basically) and Gordon Brown who seemed a decent man totally disconnected from his party, and in the latter stages, from himself.
UK economy contracted by 0.5% in the run up to Christmas. Double dip recession?
The UK is going the way of greece. Like I said at the beginning of 2010 it will start in Europe and most of Europe will get wiped out.

There is not a cigarette paper difference between the three main parties in the UK. Nu Labour, Blu Labour or Yellow Labour, LibLabCon are one and the same! They are all controlled by the EU. What a waste of money parliament is, both houses. The UK doesn’t even control its Justice system they are overuled by the European Court. There is now a European Warrant which can arrest any EU citizen and extradite them to another EU country to face trial. What happened to habeus corpus or trial by jury!!
Many have said in UK that they want a referendum to stay in the EU. I say you have had your referendum (last May) when you voted LibLabCon instead of independents or other parties you only have yourselved to blame.

Read Obama’s books. The man walks to the beat of a different drummer, that is what makes Beck’s scenario so plausible.
And to get this back on track, Churchill was a fat, alcoholic gangster.
Bambi wrote:
Shame then that Churchill was a better leader drunk than Bush (or any politician in the last 20 years in US or UK) sober
He was human and made many failures Gallipoli, Army against Welsh Miners in 1920s, Gold Standard to name just a few. However, he managed to inspire the UK in WW2 and as he was half-American could work with FDR. He also knew that appeasment wouldn’t work with Hitler or Stalin.
The problem with the UK and most of the West is the “reward for failure” culture whether in Finance, Politics, Sport etc. The internet nowadays exposes this and as the cuts bite and austerity sets in the social unrest will increase.
Doesn’t the whole thing just simply demonstrate the gross failure of governments - not just the British (pathetic excuse for:) Government but also the American and all of them worldwide.
It’s simply about time we got rid of the whole corrupt ediface and moved on from statism.
Bring on a properly open, free market. With no government’s trying to regulate the hell out of it. No more central banks trying to control everything and inflating the money supply to such astronomical degrees that our paper money becomes worthless - as one poster already said, Weimar German version 2.0 here we come! No more government poking their effing noses into things that have nothing to do with them.
But things will get a lot, lot worse before they get better. More CCTV cameras? Check. More police power to bully and arrest and hold without charge (hell, already in places like Canada and German the law states you have to show your ID if asked! Anyone else thinking “Papers please?” like they asked in Nazi German)? Check. More laws to regulate us and curtail our already diminishing liberties? Check. Massive, massive second recession (depression)? Check. Increasing hyper-inflation to destroy the average man’s savings? Check.
Oh boy! It’s gonna get horrible. Get your money in silver and gold - something that will always have value as the fiat currencies round the globe go BOOM!
Once America goes - which it will - the rest of us are bound to follow as the Dollar is the world’s reserve currency.
Unfortunately there will never be paradise on earth because of a little thing called “Human Nature!” I’m retired and worked over 40 years nothing changes, greed has always triumphed. The change today is that technology has increased the speed and also the transparency of business. As one of those who developed this technology you can blame me!! Years ago in order to do money transactions everything was done with paper now you can transfer billions at a keystroke. The whole banking system is a racket.
Read an interesting quote about gold which was: "In 1900 you could buy a tailor made gents suit for 1 gold sovreign today you could still buy the same for 1 sovreign (worth 375 pounds today). Tells you something.
