UK PC Police Ban Word: 'Obese'

Government bans the word ‘obese’ to describe overweight children

[i]Parents of primary schoolchildren will start getting letters next month telling them how fat their children are under Government plans to tackle childhood obesity. But however much they weigh, no child will ever be described as ‘obese’.

The Department of Health faced criticism yesterday for a ‘prissy’ approach to tackling obesity after it said that it did not want the term ‘obese’ included in the letters.

The department said that research had shown that the term was a turn-off, so instead it will use the term ‘very overweight’ for those children whose body mass index exceeds 30, in an attempt to enlist parents’ support.

Among other forbidden words is ‘exercise’. Will Cavendish, director of health and wellbeing at the department, said that this, too, conveyed an unhelpful image to parents. Being ‘physically active’ is preferred.

They just cured the obesity problem!

[The United State Senate. Randy is addressing the senators.]

Randy: Senators, I know it is not normally considered “American” to ban words. [Randy is flanked by Fuhrman and Richards] But there is one slur that has caused so much damage that we believe it should finally be made illegal. I’m talking, of course, about the term “nigger guy.”

Senator 1: “Nigger guy”?

Randy: Two words which by themselves can be harmless but which together… form a verbal missile of hate.

Richards: Yeah! That’s right!

Randy: Oh sure. Some people just use the term in jest - tell a nigger guy joke or two thinking it’s no big deal - but they don’t realize it can lead to people using the term as an excuse for violence.

Skeeter: [with his two friends] Goddamn nigger guy’s tryin’ to be all political-like now!

Randy: Senators, I’ve learned to admit that I’m capable of having- slightly racist thoughts once in a while. Can anybody say they never do? How long will it be before you are all called “nigger guys”? [the senators are somewhat shocked]

Senator 2: Uhhh, hold on a second, are you suggesting “nigger guy” could become a slur that refers to all white people?

Senator 3: I’m certainly not a nigger guy. I’ve never thought a racist thought.

Senator 4: [black senator] Aw, come on, you’re the biggest nigger guy in Washington.

Senator 1: Mr. Marsh, we see now the imprtance of your bill. [raises his left hand] All those in favor to ban the term “nigger guy”?

Most Senators: Aye!

Senator 1: Opposed?

Senator 4: Nay?

Senator 1: The motion is passed! [lowers the gavel.]

[Outside the Seante building, supporters of the bill celebrate with confetti and streamers. Randy walks out and across the lawn with Richards and Fuhrman.]

Randy: We did it!

Field Reporter: For the first time in American history, a word has been officially banned from use.

Speaker: From now on, if a person uses the word “nigger,” it must be at least seven words away from the word “guy.” [a group of black people is shown, not reacting in any way to the announcement. Everyone else continues cheering.]

Nothing was banned. They just stopped including that word in letters to parents.

This type of thinking is very retarded, but it isn’t a ban.

Its still the principle of the matter

I recently found out that “black hole” is a racist term. So yeah, “obese” may in fact be a medically accurate description, but we wouldn’t want any of those fat kids’ parents to get their feelings hurt, so we’ll just call them all “Super Heavyweights”!

I suspect that no matter what word you use to describe being fat, it will be a “turn-off”. Maybe it’s not the word that’s the problem, and attention should be focused on the reality?

Just like in the “onion movie”.
You know something is wrong when satire makes accurate predictions.

Sure. Why use one small word that accurately describes an extreme level of fatness when you can use two.

I’ve seen refridgerator magnets of fat geese that say “I’m not fat, I’m fluffy”… Why not just call them ‘fluffy’?

this is not surprising considering the direction England is moving.

Not too long ago some kid was arrested for calling Scientology a cult.

Makes me glad to live in America, where things aren’t that bad (at least not yet, if we get there I am moving!!)

Christ, just shame the fat little fuckers into losing weight.

“Ha ha! Fatty McFat Fat! Lose some weight fatty, you’re fat!”

So how do they address them, “Your fat little fuck needs to stop stealing food”

That has potential.

-Excerpt from “Death Camp of Tolerance” South Park Season 6 Episode 14

Tour Guide: [leads them into the Tolerance Discovery Lab] This is our discovery wing. Take your time at the computer displays [they measure tolerance I.Q.], because you see, being tolerant you must also respect people who are small, people who are disabled, even people who are overweight, [moves her arms towards Cartman] like this young man here.

Cartman: Ey!

Tour Guide: You other boys have probably called this young man names like “tubby,” or “lardbutt,” or “fat tits,”…

Kyle: “Fat tits.” That’s a good one.

Stan: Yeah, I have to remember that.

Tour Guide: But you must learn to be tolerant of his differences as well. If he chooses to eat fatty foods, that’s his life choice.

Cartman: [strokes his chin and tries something out] I’m not fat, I have a different life choice.

Tour Guide: And we won’t belittle you for eating lots of cookies and cakes and pies.

Cartman: Duhuhude, tolerance kicks ass! [the adults chuckle]

/Cue clip from Family Guy episode when Chris’ pimple talks, and the doctor goes through a string of insults and ends up landing on a fat one.

Damned YouTube doesn’t have enough clips anymore ><

Chris: Doctor, I need you to get rid of this zit!
Zit: You traitor!
Doctor:Whoa, t hat’s a doozy. I bet some of those a wful kids at school call you zit face.
Chris: No.
Doctor: Papa Zit?
Chris: No.
Doctor: Puss Peak?
Chris: No.
Doctor: Fat ass?
Chris: Well, yeah.
Doctor: Tsk, tsk . Oh, that’s terrible. Well, we’re going to have to use some cortisone on that.

I love that Death Camp of Tolerance episode

i wish my college had like a South Park and Ethics class. I think it would honestly be very productive

Maybe this makes me simple minded and predictable, but I pretty much completely agree with the message behind every sothpark episode I have seen that addresses a specific issue.
