UFC on Fox Predictions?

Am I the only one that feels like Cain threw this fight? The original head shot was not that solid and then he rolled over like nothing was going on. JDS shots from the top were mostly ineffective and with his left hand except for the last couple from the right and then the fight was stopped… Just looked goofy to me

Yes, you are the only one.

In what world is a 240 lb man punching you as hard as he can right on the ear not a good shot?

Just watched the fight again and the first shot was not that clean and it landed on JDS’s fingers, not a solid shot as well as the fact Cain was moving away from the shot bending at the waist. Most of the shots after he was on the ground did not even land. I just feel Cain rolled over and didn’t want anymore and I can’t imagine him not fighting for the title harder than that. He was never really knocked all the way out until the last couple shots. I am happy Dos Santos won and he deserves it just seems like Cain was acting and not fighting.

Anderson Silva knocked out Forrest Griffin with a shot that was about 25 times less powerful lol. means nothing…

Have you ever watched MMA before?

Any avid MMA fan can name several, if not dozens of fights where a fighter landed a shot that didnt appear to be flush and still got the KO/TKO. Watch Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin, watch GSP vs Serra 1.

And i still maintain that the shot that put Cain down was a solid one.

About 1 minute in is the KO, with several replays following. Full force right on the ear, yes the finger side of his fist made the connection but its not like it was a glancing blow. Anyone who knows anything about boxing or even basic biology can tell you the important effect that your ears have on maintaining balance or equilibrium, as even Cain pointed out post-fight.

And as far as Cain kind of turtling up after going to the ground; Why the hell are people surprised that a WRESTLER who’s never been on his back (especially after getting rocked) didnt know how to defend himself better?

Sorry just looked a little staged to me. I know it looks different that it feels, trust me. Im not a MMA “fan” per se. I do fight in MMA matches so I know quite a alot about it. Always makes me wonder how someone got to be the champion by just going to turtle and not practicing defenses and doing basic defenses from your back. Entirely the wrong reaction in my opinion so I guess he deserves the L. Wrestlers do fight from their backs FWIW.

Its not uncommon to see guys who are so good in one or two facets of the game that it carries them to the highest level of competition, but then at that highest level their weaknesses are finally exposed, regardless of their strengths. I dont think that is entirely why Cain lost, but we see it all the time, ESPECIALLY with wrestlers off their back. Brock Lesnar, now (maybe) Cain. Just a couple of examples of guys with brutal top game but very little knowledge of working off their back.

We still didnt get to see enough of Cain on his back to determine whether he really does have a hard time working from his guard, he may have just been rocked bad enough that he didnt even know what he was doing. Im just saying, no one should be surprised when a wrestler who has spent all of 5 seconds on his back in his career, doesnt react particularly well when put their against a well rounded fighter.

We got this fight live on free to air tv something that normally only happens when ufc comes to aus I really enjoyed it.

i still think thats dumb that they would put all the fights on facebook and then televise just one fight on fox… This way you cant even go to the bars to watch the fight cards because none of the fights are on tv or pay per view

It was this one time. This wasn’t a true UFC/Fox event, just a precursor for awareness purposes. Not sure what they plan to do for the next one, but PPV will remain part of their business.

Fox execs wanted one fight in a one hour slot, wasnt up to the UFC. And yes, this was just sort of a “warmup” for the UFC on fox in January.

The deal about UFC on fox till the contract expires on december 2012 is two fights televised per event.

This one was just a test dummy, It starts effectively on january.

yeah i think your the only one who thought that cain threw the fight. (although im still convinced lesnar took a dive against cain haha) that was a huge punch he ate in the side of the head, and to me when he fell he didnt look out but he sure as hell didnt look like he wanted to fight any more, i also thought those fallow up punches were pretty vicious overall

any way i despise cain and have never liked him i had been hoping for months jds would expose him for the over hyped marketing machine he is and i think that cannon of a right hand did just that.

on a different note jds couldnt put away good old roy nelson, thats someone i want to see fight cain. although hes (cain) is probably gonna avoid stand up for a little while.

That means that Roy Nelson is the most durable chin on HW after Mark Hunt and Old Nogueira

Yeah I just can’t get behind Roy Nelson… boring to watch. Just waiting till his chin wears out and his career will be over.

I agree. Nelson is respectable as a fighter, but its little wonder as to why he doesnt have this huge fanbase like Cain or JDS. Has anyone ever gotten excited for a Roy Nelson fight?

in all seriousness me. im cheering for the big man every time he gets in the ring. he lives as few men dare to dream.

same here, hard not to cheer for Nelson lately seeing how entertaining his fights have been. The fat suit at the weigh in was priceless.

I couldn’t say much about him when he’d just lay on his opponent and try the mounted crucifix for minutes on end, and tap on the guys forehead til the ref stopped it for not intelligently defending, and he’d barely make contact with any of the punches. Am glad the Cro Cop fight wasn’t stopped at the end of the second round when he was doing this.
