UFC Fight Night Live (Spoiler)

Reiner is another one of those guys who doesn’t belong in the UFC. I thought the best fight was the Fitch fight, they were all over, trying different things. The Stout/Fisher fight was decent, they put out a lot of energy, but I would have like to see them try more stuff.

I’m looking forward to Franklin-Okami. I’ve got my money on Okami…

heres the rest

The guy is 13-3 with an 11-1 record outside of the UFC, and every one of his losses is to a UFC veteran. In his UFC debut, he took a very solid WW with a history of quick finishes (Josh Burkman) to a decision. I’d say he certainly earned his shot in the UFC.

That said, I think this fight has earned him a trip back to the bush leagues. Reiner is a good fighter, but he’s got a chin of glass.

If you know how the fight game works a lot of guys have padded records. It’s not unusual to find guys out there with 20-0 records and the majority of their oppenents have 0-0 records (minus the fight they fought with them) and/or losing records. I don’t know about him, but it wouldn’t surprise me if his record was highly padded.

Seeing Reiner fight (on both occasions) has shown me he definitely never needed to be in the UFC. He’s just earned that now.

I agree that lots of guys have ‘padded’ records. Reiner is not one of those guys.

of fights versus newbs (guys with < 5 fights): 2

fights versus losers ( guys with more L than W): 3

Reiner has wins over some pretty well respected names on the lower rungs of the MMA ladder (Victor Moreno x2, Joey Clark, Jay Jack, Danny Anderson). His record is legit.

Josh Burkman is a very solid fighter and is notorious for quick finishes. I was impressed that Reiner was able to take him to a decision. That alone told he deserved to be in the UFC.
