I thinkg GSP earned the right for a rematch against Hughes. I don’t think he should fight Penn first. But Dana most likely schedule GSP vs Penn first, just to make more money on the PPV. Yeah, Penn looks different, round face. Might of gain some weight.
Did you guys not noticed how fucked that black heavyweight looked? He totally looked like he was on something, being all spaced out and shit. Not to mention he actually falls over while trying to kick the other guy. That whole time that guy just looked messed.
Anyone else notice that there’s no way someone from the MMA crowd would throw a beer on any of the combatants? Unless of course Tito was in the crowd when Shamrock walked by.

What is up with Tito? Why did he immediately have to get in Shamrocks face? Some people never grow up.
Penn Vs St.Pierre will be a very good fight! Either is capable of giving Hughes a good fight. However, neither will defeat him.
(Let’s not argue about this until we know which one will face him-Deal?)

It is not immaturity, it is called marketing. Tito fully understands that a fighter is also an entertainer.

oh yeah, Did you all notice Joe Rogan called out Wesley snipes? Joe want’s to fight Wesley in the cage. Joe’s waiting for Snipes to sign the contract. Maybe on Super Saturday?[/quote]
Snipes background is capoeira I believe. He’s been training in MA, for many years, so IF it happened, would definitely be an entertaining thing to watch.
But I don’t see Snipes doing it. He doesn’t need the money, Blade franchise has probably paid off nicely for him, and why risk an injury in a fight that might keep him out of a movie deal.

Um…nope, not buying it!
I understand the proper use of hype to market a fight, a product etc. But, Tito was a jerk form the beginning.
Remember him flipping off the Lions Den (and Ken Shamrock who stood outside the Octagon) after he beat one of their fighters. I think it was the double bird.
He had T-shirts printed that insulted the Lions Den and one of their fighters. He then spewed a bunch of profanity into the camara. No he’s an ass…
OK, so either Tito is a complete ass or he’s a self-marketing genius…either way he’s got at least the two of you discussing him on this forum which isn’t even dedicated to MMA.
Cheers,
Soup
In their last fight Penn defeated Hughes
In their last fight GSP lost to Hughes
Based on this the fair thing would probably be to have Hughes vs. Penn next, then let GSP fight the looser for a shot at the champ.
However, the smatter marketing move would probably be to have GSP face Penn and let the winner face Hughes.
Personally, I’d like to see GSP defeat Penn and then demolish Hughes. Then let Hughes and Penn battle for the right the face GSP again.
My heart is with GSP to win. Very humble and nice guy from the looks of it.
Sorry if I am out of the loop but clue me in on the beef between Shamrock and Ortiz.
Does Ortiz even have any coaching experience? I know Shamrock used to run the Lion’s Den (or still does?), what has Ortiz done.
Really too bad they couldn’t get Gracie, that would’ve been really cool. The best out of the original UFC cast coaching opposite teams.
One final thought: Nate Quarry got knocked the fuck out! Never had a chance, totally outclassed.

Tito is using the same sort of marketing as Mike Tyson - talk enough shit and people want to see you fight.
Tito wore a shirt that had a picture of Shamrock on it after their last fight. The shirt said “I killed Kenny. You Bastard”. Pure. Marketing. Genius.

Mike Tyson also beat up his wife, raped a beauty queeen, wrapped his Mercedes around a tree and spent a few years in jail…Um…that’s not an act! Tyson, not unlike Tito is a misguided malcontent.
Granted they use it for promotional purposes. But just because someone markets the fact that they are a jerk does not mean that it’s a trick…the person can really be a jerk.

A blackbelt in TKD. If that doesn’t scare someone, I don’t know what will.
