Of the more vocal men I’ve known with such dim views (not a large sample), none mentioned morality, nor could any reference any religious text in which homosexuality is mentioned. They mentioned public health, repugnance to homosexual activity (something that even pro-homosexual straight men seem to have no problem expressing), and what they saw as a peculiar mental makeup altogether.
As a youngster, the first adult to express such a view to me spoke of homosexuality as if it were a syndrome, a cluster of mental and physical symptoms and behaviors. He didn’t mention morality, nor could he recite one line from the Torah. What’s ironic is that is how many men who don’t, or who supposedly don’t, have a dim view speak of them as well. Hence why they use the word gay as an insult and suspect if someone is gay.
