In most sane states, I would recommend never letting someone live in a self-defense situation.
If they live, they can sue you. If they die and it is ruled self-defense (more likely with only your side to tell) their family cannot even sue you civilly.
Now this only applies in castle doctrine / stand your ground states. If you are in NY or some other shit hole where you have a duty to retreat, I suggest moving.

As someone who has travelled extensively, I have to say it is the greatest nation.
Castolirina has probably never been outside the US.
I will never leave the US. I was born here and I will die here. I refuse to run away from a country I love.
If that eventually costs me my life - so be it.

It is also subjective to an extent. I have a good friend who moved to Japan and he loves it.
He grew up in NJ though, so he is used to crowds and big cities.
Japan was nice to visit, but after a few days I was ready to leave.
