that film had some sexy women in it
“I just have a problem with someone who’s feminine portraying the epitome of pre-domestication masculinity. Doesn’t work.”
WhiteFlash has hit it on the head
Actually, I like Kellan as Conan. He’s a cool guy, and he takes training seriously, from what I’ve heard from industry trainers. Assuming he packs on 20 and even half of it is in his legs, he should be good. They’ll probably cast a lot of very small and skinny people to play opposite him (and there’s no great dearth of those in Hollywood) which will make him look big from a relative perspective.
Plus, he banged Annalynne McCord, so as far as I’m concerned he’s basically awesome.

The wrong was they had been thinking of casting Sharon Stone as Jane Bond. I don’t really see her in the role.
Wasn’t Alias kind of a female James Bond thing?

He said he wants to put on size, and he is banging the hottie from the new 90210, I really don’t see what the issue here is. Who do people want to see in this ? People need to realize there is a very good reason why Markus, Ronnie and Jay don’t get cast in anything requiring muscles and why Vinnie Jones was in X-men.

2 points for OG! Yes it was, and yes it was a big hit. People loved the kick ass female Bond type.

Are you serious?
He’s a male archetype! A macho archetype!
How about “Not Without My Daughter 2” starring Perez Hilton?
As far as Conan goes, I have no issue with the casting choice. He’s a naturally large dude, that wants to get bigger for the role, first of all. Secondly, he’s already an actor. Third, it doesn’t take much depth to play Conan…let’s keep it real, people. The Conan movies are awesome back in the day, but Arnold is hardly an Oscar contender.
He was big, charismatic, and was at the right place at the right time for the role. Quit hating on this Kellen guy because of his participation in Twilight. Hell, if Hollywood knocked on your respective doors with a role for you in the movie, and you didn’t have to sacrifice your gym habits, you would probably do it. Especially if you were getting paid for it. I know I would. Just saying…
Looks like it’s the guy from Stargate Atlantis.
Not that there has ever been or ever will be more than one Conan movie. Conan the Barbarian, 1982.

OK, that seems a bit strange given that in Robert E. Howard’s books, Conan is a Cimmerian, and the Cimmerians were loosely based on the Celts. He doesn’t really look right for the part.

what comes next?
a Dirt Harry Remake with Shia Labouffe?
a female James Bond?
a Rambo “reboot” starring the Harry Potter Boy?
Maybe they should rethink it and cast Shia Labouffe as Conan.
Here are some others I would like to see:
Bill Cosby as Indiana Jones
McCallie Caulkin as the Terminator
Brendan Fraser as The Godfather

So your gf made you watch twilight before you even told her that Commando exists? Keep digging.
Nah, he’s already lost the dreads so his appearance isn’t that much off.
Does Conan really even need to be remade?
wtf I woulda though for sure they would of cast Sheamus from the WWE or god help us the famous John Cena (You can’t c me bitches…) or even Batista.
btw who the fuck is fuzzyapples?

No offense, but I actually watched that escape To Witch Mountain crap. The Rock should be pronounced with a lower case “R” from now on. That guy gets smaller in every movie he’s in.
Well I would agree, I just think if the guy wants to be serious he has to stop taking fucking disney movie roles. Give him 6 months and he could bulk up to play the role. We all want another Arnold or to a lesser case Stallone. Almost everyone over 30 on this site dreams of being huge and strong because of watching Conan. I am tired of the emo generation I dont look like an action star but I am anyway bullshit. What about Cena?
the rock did lose about 40 lbs but he is still capable of pulling off conan
heres a vid of him at 225

Well, I am Fuzzyapple. I think I did a good job answering your question.
As far as acting… Arnold is not on the Oscar level himself, but WTF are these metro Hollywood people thinking??? That could even pick up Conan’s nut sack, much less his sword. At a minimum the actor should be 220-240 body weight… And yes Conan is a icon, and Arnold helped make the character what it is. Don’t reduce it to a heroin sheek Conan… Whats next? Conan can’t win a sword fight, but he can design a room? WTF??

I don’t want to belabor the point of no one being equal to Arnold. That much is clear.
But, just so we’re all operating with an appropriate frame of reference, Arnold was about 215 when he played Conan. Expecting an non-bodybuilding actor to come in 5-25 pounds heavier is unrealistic to the point where such a ‘demand’ detracts from the conversation as a whole.
