im planning out my new diet for the new year alls looking good but one question which is better tuna or salmon???
salmon might be better for you nutritionally, but you cant beat the ease of canned tuna
SALMON!!!
I’d say salmon.
Fresh, wild, Pacific (Alaskan Red or King preferably), salmon can’t be beat. Either for taste or for nutrition.
Wild salmon. I only by the non-wild if I’m forced to.
What about sardines!? I’m a big fan of sardines. I never hear people talking about them on here.
for the person who mentioned canned tuna.
you can purchased canned salmon which is as easy to deal with as canned tuna. its what i eat in my dorm along with canned chicken, ever since i started to develop low grade mercury poisoning

How much tuna were you consuming per week to develop low grade mercury poisoning?
If you do eat tuna go with chunk light skipjack…it seems to have the lowest levels of mercury. Avoid albacore!

Yeah… but canned salmon is usually farmed silver or pink salmon. In other words… bait.

Maybe I’m dense, but I’m not following…what do you mean by bait? Low quality?
By bait, I mean the kind of stuff you use in conjunction with a hook to catch real fish. High quality if you are a fish… low quality if you are h. sapiens.

I have always heard that canned salmon is wild.
I have heard that rap is music… that doesn’t make it true.
Additionally, for the canned and wild variety… it is low quality. That is why it’s put in a can. Quality salmon is too valuable to can.
Think spam with fins and gills.
What makes it low quality? Its diet?

Species, flavor, and nutrient levels.

I think sardines are pretty underrated. If you can stand the taste, they are a good option. Canned sardines with extra virgin olive oil are cheap, have a good nutritional profile and are very handy when at work or in similar situations.
