Mapwhap, I’m curious have you ever trained with units from different countries? I just finished reading two books about Israeli SF/Mossad and it seems they shoot/clear rooms very differently from the U.S. Just wondering what someone with some experience thinks about that.
No, sir…never trained with any foreign troops. Got to watch some German GSG-9 guys do some room clearing, but it was really very similar to the way I had seen it / been trained to do it.
As for the Israelis…I think I had heard they do it differently also, but I’ve never seen it. Sorry.

Not true. Don’t mean to jump all over your shit but the above is not true. Spec ops is not beholden to DA. I agree on all your other points though.

I think I may not have made myself clear on that point. I think the average civilan, when they think of “special operations”, think of DA missions. They learn that from movies and video games.
People in the military certainly recognize that there is far more to “special operations” than just DA. Clearly, with you being in Bat Recon, DA work is not your sole purpose. To the contrary, I would think you train to avoid direct contact.
However, I’d bet money you train CQB skills…and you’re probably pretty damn good at it.
And I’ll bet the dick laser comes in handy too!
