Trying Out for SEALS

I like the part where you act like completing this fitness challenge makes you a SEAL; there’s totally not other things required of them…

Also let’s be real, we all know the vast majority of people on this site don’t have the conditioning/endurance related training to pass a fitness test as rigorous as this would be; much in part because of a difference in goals.

Why not give it a shot and see if their shit is up to snuff with some of the truly most bad ass mofos in the real world?

You would think that as hard core as some of these kids are, seal training would just be all in a days play.

It’s all different though. A powerlifter can make a seal look like a bitch in a powerlifting competition, a strongman can make a seal look like a bitch in a strongman competition, a bodybuilder can make a seal look like a bitch, but a seal can make all of them look like bitches while on the pavement or in the pool/ocean. Unless we have a secretive endurance athlete element here, then I doubt many here would do very well in that type of competition.

^exactly. Military fitness is completely different from bodybuilding.

Exactly. How is the ability to perform as the SEALS do help my drawing abilities?
Did anyone ask any of the cadets to draw a realistic human figure?

lol

Is the fortitude to endure and drive to complete the task any different?

Cuz that is at the core of the hard core for anything, isn’t it? Powerlifting, BB, military training, If you are going to be one of the best in the world, you are going to need that.

Dude, they are looking for candidates, not walk in off of the street special ops team members. The entry test isn’t the hard part, it just gets you the opportunity to find out if you have what it takes.

I could of sworn to be a SEAL you had roughly 6+ months of 2-4 hours of sleep per day, day after day full of non-stop training and exercise, and you learn to love being wet and cold. Guess I was wrong…shit I can totally be a SEAL if it only takes a day.

you never learn to love being cold lol you learn to deal with it

Did you quote the wrong post? Nowhere in mine am I insinuating that I believe people off the streets that do pass this become SEALs, in fact I stated quite the opposite(granted, in a sarcastic tone calling out a known troll).

No, I quoted the right one.

Why? You have a problem with that?

What makes you think he’s trolling, aside from not knowing some of his personal info that he has shared here before?

edit: Here on this thread.

don’t know why you all are ripping on him, i think it is pretty cool. If there was one closer i would consider giving it a shot.

HH, is there a calendar with other locations and times to possibly plan ahead that you know of?

Website says there are no challenges scheduled for 2010

This. I don’t think people realize just how fucking tough these guys are. A fair number of guys can make the run/swim times and strength requirements, finishing BUD/S is 99% mental. They break you down to the point where you haven’t slept in 5 days, you’re an inch away from hypothermia, you’re questioning your self, youre core values and every iota of your being is screaming for you to quit.

I can’t even fathom what that’s like, but I imagine you REALLY find out who you are and what you’re all about.

My cousin finished within the last year. His class started with like 130 guys and ended up with 12. He is one bad ass mother fucker. He’s the kind of guy that knows he can kill you 12 different ways with his bare hands but doesn’t have that phony badass swagger that a lot of clowns these days do. True confidence. I respect him a lot.

I learned everything i know about Navy Seals from watching G.I Jane.

My cousin is a SEAL in Afghanistan on his second tour there. According to him, the physical training is a cakewalk compared to all the mental shit they put you through, so unless this “competition” covers all of that as well, this is not even close to mimicking real SEAL training. Go compete in a triathlon; if you can finish The Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon or The Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii, then you are probably in comparable physical shape to a SEAL, but you are NOT even scratching the surface of what it really takes to be a SEAL.

Judging by HeadHunter’s blatant lack of intelligence that he so unabashedly displays on this forum, and especially the PWI forum, he doesn’t even begin to approach what it takes to be a SEAL, regardless of his age.

Can you arrange a fight between me and your cousin?

I eat SEALS for breakfast.

I’m an ESKIMO.

Follow my link and it tells you how to get into SEALs. Of course you have to…uh…join the Navy and apply to try out. Only someone with the IQ of a carrot would think I was saying: “Take this test and become a SEAL.” Jesus…

My son at the Naval Academy says that the few guys he knows who are aiming for SPEC OPS are either insane or good at hiding it. They are different than normal humans. He wants to do USMX ground combat btw.

my old boss was a retired seal/seal instructor at the YMCA. he’d say some funny shit if he trusted you. for example one time he was talking to a friend of mine, co worker, about an angry Y patron, he said, "look just put your hands up like this (stick 'em up like you have a gun pointed at you) and then if he comes near you COME RIGHT DOWN ON HIS NECK (his demonstration was a lighting fast chop motion to the neck)

Team HH vs Team Troll-Hater

FIGHT!
