Do people on the left ever bring up Sharpton? It’s either Sharpton interjecting himself, because no one invites him, or it’s the right bringing him up. Then the left has to comment because suddenly he matters.
When Sharpton showed up at Ferguson I bet 90% of the people there didn’t know who he is.
I think we live in an age where people just can’t not comment. With candidates it’s like if you don’t comment one of the others will. You don’t want to be left out. It’s all an opportunity to get more camera time.
I will try to never criticize anyone on “PWI” again about “What-about-ism”.
There was some spokesperson (sorry; I forget her name) for the RNC on yesterday…and it’s no exaggeration when I say that just about every other “answer” to a question she was asked was a “What-about-ism”.
Between that and this arrogant smirk she had before she “answered” a question…and I was about to pull my hair out…
Because they are morons who have no clue what’s going on. Moving forward with impeachment, and it won’t succeed in the end, might look good to a handful of millennial voters who live on Twitter and actually watch the Daily Show. The rest of the democratic base is not interested in a pointless feel good suicide mission. If they abandon the whole impeachment issue those voters won’t suddenly vote for Trump. However, it will help Trump if they continue. It will make his supporters believe that their choice in president is being de-legitimized. The Dems should be looking to appear gracious rather than petty.
I wouldn’t say they are morons, because Trump should actually be impeached, IMO for obstruction of justice. The problem is that right or wrong does not matter, it is what the voters want, and the Dems have trouble understanding their audience (which for an elected position is important if you care to remain).
Basically they could impeach, but it will fail, and be unpopular, but it would be the correct thing to do, or they can not impeach which will help them in the election.
I wonder what things would be like if the general public, had the level of understanding of politics that I observe in PWI. Not that in general we are experts, but I feel better understanding of the facts then the general public.
I have, and I mostly don’t agree. Not agreeing doesn’t mean he does not have any knowledge. I don’t agree with everyone, but at least most on here seem to have a somewhat accurate view of the facts.
That’s all well and good if executive privilege didn’t exist.
Plus: “corrupt intent, obstructive conduct and a sufficient nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding — and then states that Mueller’s report “identifies no actions that, in our judgment,” satisfy all three criteria.”
It cannot be ‘corrupt intent’ without underlying corruption. The case is a non starter.
Then there’s the political perception lens. Telling your staff to say “we didn’t commit a crime” when they in fact didn’t commit a crime seems rather reasonable. Regardless of whether they can get him on a technicality. Given Mueller’s most recent performance an impeachment on obstruction looks DOA.
If everyone who hired defense attorneys, fought discovery and maintained their innocence was guilty of obstruction then every investigation would result in those charges.
If the Dems are determined to get Trump behind bars it would be way smarter to move the narrative away from “The Russians/Obstruction” and glom onto the SDNY’s fishing expedition into his business past. All you need is one improper deduction. There’s also no executive privilege there.
Or they could focus on beating him in 2020 by having a better platform and selling that to the American public.
Not disagreeing with you really merely pointing out that one can be charged without a crime and that lying to the feds is illegal.
I don’t support impeachment nor desire to see Trump behind bars. Even if most of his campaign was centered around people chanting lock her up like a deranged mob.
Then again if Trump or Hilary ended up behind bars the world wouldn’t be worse for it.
The Dems could do it too, if they were smarter about it. They just have to realize this Russian thing is a dead horse and political capital black hole.
