Trump: The Third Year

Sure, and a drunk driver who fled the scene. But a narrow loss in Texas is nothing to sniff at.

Sure, but he lost to Cruz who’s not a very popular guy these days.

Ah, but not failures in the west. It’s narcissistic Utopianism.

Agreed.

I would not be surprised if we swing hard left in 2024.

Sander’s would be 79, Biden 78, and Clinton 73 in 2020, really? Can we get some fresh blood… They’ve probably been in politics for a combined 70 years too.

If the GOP keep acting so deranged about Ocasia Cortez, she could be a nominee real soon.

Lol, just shoot me now. I’d elect Zep over her.

I think circumstances will be bad enough that Garden Variety Democrat will have a good shot at winning, even in the absence of a star candidate.

I think 2019 will feature an economic downturn. I also think that whatever Mueller delivers will be a big black eye on the President. And I think a lot of voters will be exhausted from the dysfunction and constant tabloid trash the WH subjects us to. And to any reasonably objective observer, Trump comes off as inept and increasingly so.

What carried Trump in 2016 wasn’t legions and legions of MAGA-heads - it was disaffected voters ready for something other than the elite’s business as usual. But, I don’t think this group has been impressed with Trump’s version of departing from business as usual - being anti-elite isn’t the same as being pro-dumpster fire. I think these voters peel away.

Democrats can screw this up by nominating someone who isn’t mainstream - and signs point that they might. But at this point I’d say in 2020 we’ll have a Democratic President.

I tend to agree with what you wrote, but who is this garden variety dem, though? Biden? Webb? O’Malley? I just don’t see it.

*Maybe someone else emerges, who knows…

Be still my beating heart.

Hopefully you don’t see whoever it is until much closer to the race. I struggle so much with a national party that is fucking stupid enough to put up a front runner right now.

Makes absolutely no sense to me. Not even a lil

And @anon50325502

The WH has contacted Webb re: him serving as SecDef. He would do great in a normal environment, but I hope he declines.

If he ran in 2020 and got a fair hearing, he’d win. Firmly believe so.

I don’t know, politics seems like it’s non-stop anymore.

I like many of his positions more so than most politicians. He’s gonna struggle with middle right voters on his abortion stance, though.

Eh. I’m yet to hear a single realistic reason the Dems would put up a front runner right now that isn’t immediately shut down by Trump having a Twitter.

I’ve said it a ton to Mufasa. If the Dems are so mouth breathingly stupid as to put up a front runner right now, I’ll vote for Trump myself to spite them.

Ask and you shall receive.

I’ve thought the same thing.

The media LOVES her.

Heavy on rhetoric…VERY thin on knowledge and understanding.

I think that putting her in a REAL debate would be embarrassing.

At least Trump knows how to deflect and bullshit his way through what he doesn’t know and understand…but I think individuals like Ocasia Cortez are the “worst of the worst”…the ones who don’t know what they don’t know…

He might - but I wonder if that issue has moved down the ladder far enough to not be a deal breaker?

As do I, but Loppar is pretty spot on with his assessment.

The only thing she needs to do is provide a couple of good photo ops looking strong and independent. The rest will be taken care of by the press and claims of mansplaining patriarchy.

We’re firmly in the time of icons. Substance means nothing.
