Every time I read one of these, I ask myself the same question.
I’m starting to take the “Is Trump actually in the early stages of dementia?” questions a little more seriously. It’s so common for him to just veer off the rails into one of these “Wait, what the hell is he even talking about?” streams of consciousness. Who is Mr. Elegant?

And it’s worthwhile to reconnect the dots - what you see in Charlottesville is the fullest expression of the Alt-Right to date, per the Alt-Right. Breitbart magazine is the “platform of the Alt-Right”, so named by none other than Steve Bannon. Bannon serves as Chief Strategist in the Trump administration, and has his office in the White House.
Obvious facts for anyone, just worth restating.
So, no one should feel surprised why the Alt-Right feels enabled and empowered to do what it’s currently doing in Charlottesville. In their black hearts, they believe the president ultimately has their back.
