Trump: The First Year

Didn’t Trump also tweet repeal in toto?

Even he doesn’t fear himself.

Isn’t part of it under budget requirement of 60 votes though?

He did after the announcement, I believe. But that’s just marketing for his base. He’s never been in favor of it, and the votes aren’t there. It was just another piece of nutritionless Twitter candy to placate his base.

McConnell could only afford two defections, though, and he had four.

All talk, all bluff, all the time.

“At an hourlong meeting last Wednesday, all of the president’s major security advisers recommended he preserve the Iran deal for now. Among those who spoke out were Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson; Defense Secretary Jim Mattis; Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, the national security adviser; and Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to an official who described internal discussions on the condition of anonymity. The official said Mr. Trump had spent 55 minutes of the meeting telling them he did not want to.”

Thank God the grown-ups in the room stuck to their guns.

Ridiculous. I particularly love this tweet from Trump:

“Republicans should just REPEAL failing ObamaCare now & work on a new Healthcare Plan that will start from a clean slate. Dems will join in!”

In what world will Dems join in on a straight repeal?!?

Heck, in what world would the Senate Republicans go for a straight repeal? It would be political suicide.

That’s all well and good…but what did Kushner and Jr. think?

Jr and Kush were in Russia at a meeting they will forget by this time tomorrow

Can anyone defend the Presidents let Obamacare fail stance? Him and the Republicans won’t own it? So we have a president and a party who refuse to complete an alternate plan after running on that. I just don’t get it.

“We have this awful legislation in place. We have all the control to change it. Instead of changing it we will wait and hope it hurts Americans and blows up and then change it.”

Makes absolutely no sense and is completely putting politics before people if they actually believe it is that bad.

They are really saying hey we think this time bomb is ticking. Instead of defusing it we are going to let it blow up and blame it on the democrats and then make a law to stop time bombs.

It’s really no different than the “let SS, Medicare, and Medicaid fail” stance every politician takes. The ol kick the can down the road method. Gotta love it.

And now the outright repeal effort has collapsed too. Amazing the GOP would even consider screwing over millions just to chalk up a legislative win.

Not surprising at all. I can’t believe they would even consider it, since it had even less support than the replace option.

SAD!

I don’t disagree, even though I’m not a fan of the Iran agreement. I’m actually inclined to think one of the reasons they advised against reform is that even if they collectively think it needs to be reformed, they have no confidence in Trump that he can lead any such reform, so punt reform until someone competent can evaluate it and negotiate it.

And, that’s me, too - again, I’m not a fan of it in place as is (and was critical of it and Obama), but I don’t think I want Trump anywhere near trying to fix it.

Trump can’t sell any of the options, because the only way he could is to know the options, in some depth. He doesnt, and never will. Senate Republicans have no bully-pulpit negotiator to get this thing done.

But remember - master class businessman and negotiator, sayeth the Trumpkins.

For Trump to say; “…Fuck it…let the whole damn thing collapse…it’s not on me and the good Republicans…” Is a chickenshit, selfish things to say…which is why I can totally believe that Trump said it.

This is all about people lives…not making Trump look good.

Do what you promised to do for eight years… Repeal AND Replace…

Or get back to work with accepting what works and fixing what doesn’t.

When I look at the entrenchment on all sides in combination with the complexity of the issues, I wonder who would want to be president other than a stone cold narcissist.

I will still opine that we have allowed too much power in the executive branch.

Agree.

Doubly agree, lol.

Psychoanalysis.a person who suffers from narcissism, deriving erotic gratification from admiration of his or her own physical or mental attributes.

Your comment made me think. For a US President, if everything really is “all about me”… If the world truly does “revolve around me” for 4 years at least, that would be the perfect place for a narcissist.

I want to read news about world events without his spectacle ruining every article. I defy you to find a news source that doesn’t have him on or near the front page. I even took to reading foreign papers… there he is.

Uh oh… Der Spiegel. Their specialty recently is hating Donald Trump with a visceral passion so I think for non-Trump news you’ll have to look elsewhere.
