The election is over - I don’t really need to convince people to vote Trump
That has nothing to do with what we’re talking about.
Thats exactly why i went in great detail about immigration and other topics during this election - in hopes of influencing a few people lurking this thread to vote Trump.
I know anyone regularly posting has their mind made up.
He could have said Catholic Europeans and been correct though. They vote mostly Democrat and are to the left of Protestant.
That they have stayed Dem surprises me since traditionally (IOW until this last Pope) their doctrines were strictly against abortion and homosexuality.
I can’t believe this was actually published in the NYT
Strange times.
From the Op-Ed:
“[T]he law of supply and demand is not magically suspended in the labor market. As immigrant labor has flooded the country, working-class wages have collapsed. Wages for Americans with only high school diplomas have declined by 2 percent since the late 1970s, and for those who didn’t finish high school, they have declined by nearly 20 percent, according to Economic Policy Institute figures.”
From the (same) Economic Policy Institute:
Do immigrants take jobs away from American workers?
There is broad agreement among academic economists that in the long run, immigration has a small but positive impact on the labor market outcomes of native-born workers, on average. There is some debate about whether, within the overall small positive effect, certain subgroups are harmed, in particular native-born workers with low levels of education.
The evidence shows that in the long run, immigrants do not reduce native employment rates. But some evidence suggests that in the short run, immigration may slightly reduce native employment, because the economy takes time to adjust to new immigration. Importantly, this effect varies according to the broader economic environment. In particular, when the economy is growing and the labor market is adding jobs, new immigration creates enough jobs even in the short run (and even for the less-educated) to cause no harm to the net employment of native-born workers. But during economic downturns, things do not adjust as quickly. When the economy is weak, new immigration has a small negative impact in the short run on the employment of native-born workers.
Do any of you white guys care that whites are heading towards minority status by 2044 and full on extinction past that date?
As non - white guy it’s not my legacy so this argument holds no water for me personally.
Back on topic - this is so bizarre that words fail me:
“I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what is going on.”
Don King hopping on the gravy train with Kanye West and everyone else lol
Majority Minority - i.e Largest group in the country, but outnumbered nominally by “other groups.” Full l-on extinction lol the Hyperbole is incredible.
It is an interesting question though. There are some scholars who speculate that the entire system of discrimination originated from the fact that Brown and Black people outnumber White people heavily globally - i.e protecting the European-Anglosaxon genome.
It is unlikely we will know the true reasons until we get a time machine, but questions such as Raj’s reinforce that thought line.
Actually Bill Clinton did NOT win the majority of white voters in 1992. He received 39% of the white vote to Bush’s 41% and Ross Perot’s 21%.
Clinton lost the white vote again in 1996, 44% for Clinton, 46% for Dole and Perot received 10%
I think it matters less what the breakdown of the population is compared to how they vote.
How would you convince people who normally wouldn’t vote right for a host of reasons - to vote right?
That Hitler comparison gets thrown around way too much. You are Hitler, Trump is Hitler, various world leaders who have killed no one are called Hitler. It seems that this is the tagline that the corrupt lazy left leans on when they have no argument.
I noticed many on the left claiming that Trump is racist. And why do they make such a claim? Did he say he hated Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims? No. He said he was against illegal immigration. If that makes him a racist then I think over half the country could (inaccurately) be called racist
Obama has moved us so far left that people who don’t want our borders flooded with illegals are now racists. GASP…Millions of Hitler’s are now living in our country.
What a very lazy, foolish and dangerous name calling game that the left plays.
Excellent question my friend. Firstly, I would point out that the right, over the years, has presented more economic opportunity than the left. While the left will gladly take other peoples money and give it to those who have not earned it they have for the most part not provided a vital economy which in the end helps everyone.
Of course there are other approaches I would use depending on the persons specific circumstance.
It is entertaining to watch the parade of Trump ring kissers visit the golden tower. I have never seen a primary like we had, a general election such as what took place and never have witnessed a transition that is now taking place. I have to assume at this point that Trump’s Presidency will be like no other. But I do believe that it will be successful.
There was he and his father’s housing discrimination lawsuit.
But I do agree, it’s ridiculous when, if you’re against illegal immigration, or against taking on more Muslim immigrants in an immediate nature, then you’re racist.
I think my only concern with Muslim immigrants is - the US created many of the problems that led to the refugee crisis. Then to say “nah we don’t want to take any refugees,” is a little hypocritical to me.
85% white in 1970 to 10% white in 2070… what word should I use?
I sure hope so. We can’t afford otherwise.
Those two things are one and the same.
Notice how I said Clinton would have no chance in 1970s US demographics and it wasn’t rebutted?
