You can have Michael Brown - DOJ investigation proved Wilson to be in the right.

Did Freddie Gray not have multiple vertebrae crushed while in police custody? With no evidence of harm done to any officers? People riot when they feel they have no power. People resort to violence when they feel they have no power. I think it is funny you mentioned Baltimore seeing as the 163 page DOJ report found their department to have " a pattern and practice" of discrimination against African-Americans that targeted them disproportionately for traffic stops, use of force, and jail sentences."

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2016/08/09/us/baltimore-justice-department-report/index.html?client=ms-android-verizon

Nationally, (couldn’t find statistics for crime by race in Baltimore) statistics do show that African Americans commit slightly more than half of all murders, even though we make up 13% of the population

However, virtually every other crime statistic is distributed as it should be in terms of race vs population.

What does goes hand-in-hand with crime? Poverty.

Stick a bunch of poor people in a concentrated area and they will probably hurt each other to try and eat. Places like Baltimore, St. Louis, NYC are notorious for this. In some of these guys eyes, the drug trade is the most lucrative entrepreneurial pursuit. Along with drugs comes violent crime. See where I’m going with this? Economic devopment is the solution to the problem. Stronger policing has its merits, but ultimately we have the same problem that Nixon and Regan had.

Lastly I want to leave you with this:

I think this excerpt from his speech at the Dallas Memorial says a lot about the difference in perception and reception of his words. After Obama talked about the slain officers and how hard police’s jobs are for 20 mins, he went into bias in the police force. When it pans out, not a single white police officer is clapping, but almost all of the African American ones are. I think that says a lot, when people on the force differ so greatly, based on race. I think it shows the complexity of the issue, and that it is not just a “Cops vs. BLM” thing.

The first president I was old enough to vote for.

I’m with Skyzyks on this one.

I have no problem with these major defense Contractors, because they are the best in the World at what they do…but don’t smile and try and convince me that you are in a “competitive” environment like the average Joe is for house work.

Also…it frustrates me to no end that people bend and twist the meaning of words (like demagogue and racist) in order to fit their narrative. The age of the internet and Social Media has seen this happen to levels I’ve never seen.

Assuming this refers to my discussion with @SkyzykS concerning demagoguery, which of us ‘bent and twisted’ the meaning of the word in your opinion?

I remember watching the episode of Bill Maher right before the election, and he touched in this idea. He apologized for calling Romney and Bush every name in the book, because he felt compared to Trump, they were pretty normal. By constantly using the words that end in ist, phobe, and ism, it diluted the effect when it came to people who were really ists, phobes, and isms.

It was a happy day and a great time for America. We can only pray that Trump will be one more great President.

This was a general statement not particularly directed at this discussion, but much of what I’ve seen and read, especially over the past eight years of the Obama Presidency.

I have agreed with much of what you have posted.

Yet another example of what happens when one makes assumptions. Thanks for clarifying.

Without googling the incident I do recall that witnesses said that Gray was banging his head against solid objects even before he entered the Police vehicle. He was an unstable character who (if I recollect correctly) had a long record of crime.

That’s true, but I don’t think there any white people that have ever harmed the black community as much as the black community has harmed itself. Up to 70% of all black males flee the scene after impregnating their female girlfriend. This causes young black males to grow up without a positive male role model. They then seek out gangs to so that they have a black role model to look up to. Unfortunately, they are then looking up to thugs. When a Police Officer of any color issues them a directive they are unable to process such a thing as they have never had this type influence in their lives. Hence, they rebel. And are almost always harmed or killed in that process. It’s very sad.

Well, maybe they do and maybe they don’t. All we know is that was Eric Holder’s Justice Department. And as I learned long ago you will usually find what you are looking for…one way or another.

But, please don’t miss the most important part of this discussion. The entire matter was promoted by President Barack Obama calling out Police instead of calling out the many black males who were (after the facts were presented) at fault.

We have gone through two other administrations prior to Obama. One democrat, Bill Clinton and one republican GW Bush. We had no real race issues with Police during those 16 years. The saddest part of all is that Obama could have been a healing force for the black community. But, he chose to be an instigator as that is all he understands.

I just had to check Fred Gray’s police record.

Freddie Gray Arrest Record

Gray had a lengthy arrest record with convictions dating back until at least 2007, according to the Maryland Department of Justice. Not all of the arrests led to convictions, in many of the cases he pleaded guilty to one charge while the others were dropped. Exact details of when he spent time in prison were not immediately available. His arrest record includes at least 18 arrests:

•March 20, 2015: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
•March 13, 2015: Malicious destruction of property, second-degree assault
•January 20, 2015: Fourth-degree burglary, trespassing
•January 14, 2015: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute
•December 31, 2014: Possession of narcotics with intent to distribute
•December 14, 2014: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance
•August 31, 2014: Illegal gambling, trespassing
•January 25, 2014: Possession of marijuana
•September 28, 2013: Distribution of narcotics, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, second-degree assault, second-degree escape
•April 13, 2012: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, violation of probation
•July 16, 2008: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute
•March 28, 2008: Unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance
•March 14, 2008: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to manufacture and distribute
•February 11, 2008: Unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance
•August 29, 2007: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, violation of probation
•August 28, 2007: Possession of marijuana
•August 23, 2007: False statement to a peace officer, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance
•July 16, 2007: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance (2 counts)

Certainly none of this means that he deserved to die. But it also lets us know that he was a very unstable character who regularly took drugs and …just a guess…was probably not in his right mind. And one of the other jailed suspect said without prompting that Gray was banging his head in the Police van.

Many people only see the headlines and walk away assuming the Police are at fault, at least that what Obama does. But the people who are arrested or shot are almost always criminals with very long rap sheets. This does not fit the left wing bias of most media outlets so they leave that part out.

What amazes me, Zeb, is that I think you honestly believe this.

Merry Christmas.

Oh then you are telling me that Police Officers were assassinated by black thugs during those 16 years? And you are also telling me that black people were rioting in the streets in large numbers in multiple cities during those years? And you are also telling me that a gang like Black Lives Matter was originated during those past 16 years? And finally are you actually telling me that Barack Obama had NOTHING to do with any of this during his 8 years?

And how many Presidents go out of their way to comment on a Police Officer arresting someone who was actually trying to get into his own house who happened to be black?

I’m not saying that there were never any problems between Police Officers and the Black Community. All I am saying is that Barack Obama took the wrong side and made things worse! AND HE DID!

Take Off The Blind Fold My Friend,

Merry Christmas

Hallelujah, Obama will be gone in a few days!

THANK GOODNESS!

President Trump can now get things back to the way they were!

I see you and Zeb going at it again, and not wanting to get in the middle.

What do you feel were Obama’s 5 biggest accomlishments?

And I am only curious and will not reply to whatever you put.
Just wanting to open my mind.

also Merry Christmas.

27 more days and his reign of terror is over.

I’ve been pretty consistent.

If his harshest Critics can’t find any, then I don’t waste my time listing them.

They are there.

But I will say this; there are plenty of families with their Loved ones alive this Christmas because President Obama was President.

Let’s see what the response to that simple, but important. accomplishment is; then you will see what I am talking about.

LOL you really typed this.

But yeah, family values matter. 90% of black women that are married ,are married to black men, but 70% of black women are unmarried.

I could go into mass incarceration (people build computers in jail for .33 an hour, get out of jail, and can’t do the same job because they are a felon - goes back to jail). The war on drugs; how 1 gram of Crack used to get you the same amount of time as 100 grams of cocaine until 2001 - became 1 gram to 18 grams (Crack was mostly used by poor AA folks vs cocaine used by rich people).

But your previous dispositions have me convinced you couldn’t see these disparities, mostly because you only see the individual responsibility side. I agree 1000% we have individual responsibility to uphold, but these disparities cannot be ignored.

Sadly, most of us are just afraid of cops, though there are some that absolutely hate them. But to be fair, modern day police did arise out of slave patrols, and shortly after integration were used to keep White neighborhoods free of AA folks.

Why are we afraid of the police you may ask? It’s quite similar to people voting for Trump because of the smugness of other politicians. The only difference is a cops word is law. Even with a video of Michael Slagler shooting Walter Scott in the back 6 times as he was 60 ft away, he wasn’t convicted of Manslaughter. That is the type of bias cops receive in society because people want to believe cops are inherently good, and criminals are inherently bad especially when they’re a black man. I mean fox news pushes the “bad black man” narrative every day.

President Obama failed on Michael Brown. However, the issue of differential treatment by police has been prevalent in our poorer communities for years now. Simply put, White America doesn’t have to deal with it, and therefore doesn’t care. Trayvon Martin, then Michael Brown were catalysts for people to say “this shouldn’t be happening in 2016.”

Obama was a symbolic victory for the AA community. As soon as he was elected Mitch McConnell said they weren’t going to work with him, and would try to have him out in 4 years. How can he heal the AA community when he is dealing with that? He surely didn’t push for any policy to help specifically us, and he couldn’t have or he would’ve been ostracized heavily by the White community, and nothing would have made it through Congress. His administration also blocked the “6 Civilized tribes” from settling on a lawsuit that would have allowed AA to have access to reparations from the 1861 Indian Black Freedman Treaty they were already entitled to by law but has never been enforced. Likely because he didn’t want that on his legacy.
How exactly could he have healed AA communities with all of those obstacles?
