Well, you shouldn’t as it’s a prime example of Soviet-style whataboutism - it seems that Trump and his acolytes are experts in this misdirection technique, instilling a false sense of moral, legal and political equivalency.
By implying that Obama was “also doing illegal stuff”, Trump is getting ready to brush aside all criticism against his past, present and future controversial (illegal) actions. This false sense of equivalency served him well in the campaign when he no matter what outrageous thing he did, his supporters got the impression that Hillary was as bad, if not worse than him.

I rate him as my ideal type of legislator. It is especially telling that when he says “I’d rather be in Nebraska” it comes off as believable.

No, I should and so should anyone who follows this stuff. You are an ardent left winger so you want to believe anything bad about Trump. I on the other hand am an ardent right winger so I want to believe anything bad about Obama.

Modern conservatism is nothing more than low taxes, small government and opposition to abortion and gay marriage. That’s why conservatism is dying and being replaced with Nationalism.
This is amateurish. Talking about things like truth and acting presidential. This is politics baby. We have to rely on perception and innuendo. Given what we know which is more probable?

Trump somehow deftly colluded with a foreign power to steal the election and fooled millions. Even though all evidence points to him being a bafoon. As the NYT/CNN and Trump himself so readily remind us.

Someone in the government overstepped their bounds in survieling Trump. Remember this is the administration that presided over IRS abuse of conservative non profits, drone strikes against US citizens with no trial and yuuge scale unwarranted surveilance of the entire internet. Trump doesn’t even have to prove Obama ordered anything or was even aware. All they need is one inappropriately recorded phone call or email and he can trot out: “They are willing to break the laws they are sworn to uphold, just to get me. Nothing they say can be trusted.” And it will play great, even to the middle.
This is a game and he’s willing to play dirty. Romney couldn’t even survive “binders full of women” because he wanted to be above the fray. Trump isn’t draining the swamp. He’s wrestling with the alligators.
It’s really fun to watch honestly.

What does define an American nationalist then? In your alt-right world are only true Americans those that can trace their ancestors back to the Mayflower? Or do you mean WASPs in general? Or those of “British Isles ancestry” whatever the hell that means? Or those with skin that’s sufficiently pale?
Are US citizens born in Mexico even eligible for the coveted label of “American nationalists” or are they excluded, being the perennial fifth column inside America borders?

Sure he does, he’s claimed that Obama did it, and it is an allegation of rank criminal wrongdoing. Everyone paying attention will now demand evidence supporting this allegation. If he produces none, people will see it for what it is - crying wolf, and a tired tactic of trying to change the subject when there are storm clouds near his presidency.
He isn’t playing dirty, he’s playing desperate and stupid.

- making multiple outlandish claims about Trump committing treason and constantly citing anonymous sources?
If #1 is being perpetrated by the sitting POTUS, whereas #2 is being perpetrated by Joe Schmo on the street, it’s #1 by a landslide.
Statements, even on Twitter, have consequences, including declassifying classified information:
I had a nervous breakdown when I realized that no one is going to oppose his spending plans. Sure, maybe the congressional freedom caucus and a few Senators. But by proposing democrat policy as a Republican, Trump has tied both parties hands. Republicans that subscribe to team mentality and have no ideology and Democrats who actually want to piss money away will give us paid family leave, infrastructure spending and an Obamacare “replacement.” This shit is getting old and I’m sick of paying for it.

I was one who said “Wow…great speech!” (Trump’s to Congress).
I was also one that said “finally!”…but after some more thought; it was a very “Democratic” speech…or more accurately “Democratic-Plus” because in addition to literally TRILLIONS in new spending…there were Tax Cuts!
Now Trump’s counter is that he will repatriate money that corporations were hiding overseas; “create” jobs; and “stimulate” the overall economy.
That’s a tall order indeed.
