Trump: The First 100 Days

He exaggerates everything on purpose to get people to talk about it.

Rinse. Repeat.

The Koch brothers buy bits of the republican establiahment to grease the wheels for their businesses. They have no interest in liberty, limited governent, or any conservative value whatsoever. That’s why they hate Trump. They don’t own him. They especially didn’t like his views on the wall and illegal immigration.

The assumptions I made are based on human nature. Companies have never been forced to hire legal people before. The everify I9 system is an absolute joke and there is zero enforcement. Reagan tried floating a punitive tax on businesses who hire illegals, that went nowhere. I maintain that business owners would have to start going to prison before this gets better.

Also it is well known that the job prospects for the people at the bottom are not good. For people with no high school degree, a criminal record and patchy employment history this type of job is the only option. As a society we are paying these people not to work at all and we are importing people to do those menial jobs illegally instead. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to have Americans do the job in the first place? We could short circuit the whole entitlement trap cycle we’ve got going in this country.

I’ll do you one better. You want to decrease violence in the inner city? Give them jobs. I defy you to join a gang and cause mischief if you’re sore from working 40-60 hours per week.

In fact I remember you calling me a victim blamer for pointing out that making bad choices keeps you at the bottom. Well let’s help these folks rise up. Natives should have an advantage over people that break the rules to be here. I care more about my fellow contrymen than people who break our laws. Let’s get our house in order first before we help other nations. Secure your own oxygen mask first and all that.

As for research into illegality I really don’t buy it. Anyone who’s ever had to fill out a census report from the FED knows that they are 40-50 pages of questionaires and data… and that’s for one legal business.

You can’t just estimate your way to solid data on fraudulent enterprises. Let alone an entire shadow economy. What is the net worth of the Sinaloa Cartel? How many employees do they have? What are their margins? See.

So yeah a report funded by people who benefit from illegal labor saying “illegals don’t hurt the economy, they help it.” is suspect at best.

0.0001%??!! Surely the proportion of undocumented immigrants who were kidnapped and brought here against their will isn’t nearly that high. Don’t be ridiculous. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I won’t dispute that the Koch brothers are mendacious, but I have to push back hard on the suggestion that they are in any sense ‘left leaning.’ It so happens, libertarian principles align with less restrictive border laws.

I would say they hate Trump because they know he’s not conservative (in the small-government sense of the word).

I addressed this with the Cato data. Rather than data, you are choosing to go with your gut–your personal understanding of ‘human nature.’ In my opinion, that’s not a good way to approach empirical issues.

Again, the data don’t support your belief.

I don’t see how the Cato Institute benefits from illegal labor. Do they have Mexicans toiling over spread sheets in the broiling sun, crunching numbers that Americans don’t want to crunch?

Republican’s / Conservatives bashing the Koch brothers… I’ve seen it all… They employ 60,000 American’s and at least Charles identifies as a classical liberal.

You are relatively indefatigable regarding racism against Blacks, law enforcement against Illegal Aliens, and immorality of White Supremacy.

Are you affiliated with any of the civil rights organizations - ACLU, NAACP, or SPLC?
Not as a member, but in some official capacity.

PS I put an actual Texas Dept of Public Safety Crime stat post above, that I see neither you nor @Tyler23 appear to have read.

Splitting hairs will not win this argument. In fact, nothing that anyone can say wins an argument on the Internet. 900 million debates and 2 minds changed…But I digress. It’s a misdemeanor. And I am not even talking about working without paying taxes and the many other crimes that illegals are likely to commit. So, we can agree (no probably not) that these are criminals.

Only because there are more legal citizens than illegal immigrants.

You tried to play the numbers game. Yeah…I do that too sometimes. We will say most things to help us further our points here on the unimportant discussion threads that never change one single mind ever

Pick a side.

I could actually argue your side. Probably not as well as you but I could do it.

Yes but we must give ED an “A” for effort. And I always admire effort.

I wonder why you don’t want the US to have any borders? Now I asked this question earlier and it went unanswered.

How many countries go without borders?

There might be some…please name them.

Who is the that outlandish radio talk show host that screams “Language, borders culture”?

I can’t stand the guy he is over the top and obnoxious. But I listened to him a couple of times during the Presidential campaign and that one thing he said made a lot of sense. The other things he said…eh

Where do we go as a country without those 3 things?

$7 billion factory by Intel employing 3000 workers

That’s not an exaggeration. It’s a lie. He’s purposely misleading those who will take it at face value without fact checking it themselves.

No affiliation.

Didn’t realize it was meant for my eyes; will check it out in a bit.

  1. I want the US to have borders. I also want us to have a sane immigration policy.
  2. I answered the question re other countries.

Michael Savage!

That guy is a riot. We used to listen to him in the shop every day. Life isn’t complete until you’ve heard him go into a full conservatard melt down.

Interesting though- He actually repelled the guy that always put his show on. In a bubble, he’s cool. But life started to change for this dude. He was buying a house. He kept running into the same thing though- All of the banks wanted to sign him up with an FHA loan. I finally told him- You’re damned by your principals if you do, and damned by the cost if you don’t. You aren’t going to find a better rate. So thats what he did.

Then his fiance lost her job that had health benefits, but got a different one and missed the ACA enrollment period- and then her severe asthma started flaring up. The treatment costs $600.00/month. So he bit the bullet and bought her the meds out of pocket.

Then Savage Nation wasn’t as popular in the shop anymore.

Well, if I defined “racism” as 'anything opposed to socialism," I suppose you are correct.

But if one uses the actual meaning of “racism,” then this is pathetically stupid.

I guess I’m just another of Trump’s antisemitic Orthodox Jewish Israeli supporters.

Didn’t realize it was directed at me either. Those are some big number, for sure. It appears as though, on average, 25,636 illegals were arrested per year for these crimes (141k / 5.5 years). How that compares to statistics for non-illegals is unclear.

I, too, thought that this conversation was proceeding too rationally. Thanks for contributing this stupid non sequitur as a solution.

3.5k posts in and not one mind has been changed. We argue because we like to argue. We argue here because the bar for debate is higher than most other places.

Also his point was that opposing Obama on anything meant you were a racist for the past 8 years.

“I don’t like that he’s using executive orders to kill whole industries. We should limit executive power.”

Response:“RACIST!”

I don’t know that, strictly speaking, the initial breach would, since the point is, look, you may have a legitimate grievance against said person (an initial breach), but it’s unfair for you to take action against that person after too long.

As for the iniquities of avoidance, maybe, but I don’t think so, as long as they have otherwise been peaceful citizens looking to make a life for themselves and their family.
