You’re killing me man. I looked it up and there are only 3 in the greater Pgh. area.
I’d swear there were a couple more a few years ago. I used to have lunch at one a few times a week when we were building a couple of grocery stores around town.
Yeah I should have gotten a better hat that Easter, to soften my looks.
Break down and go. Pittsburgh is tiny in geographic area.
Tell wifey the kid’s college fund got lost on the Steeler game and you want to make it up to her.
In all fairness, Conservatives are waging somewhat of a civil war here (& likely there too).
Some on this board proclaim to be Conservative, while being relatively Centrist. Of course, Neo Con philosophy came from Liberal schism decades ago, so…
I would like to think that a more polished representative of the right would take us back to an era of self reliance, sobriety of thought and word, and less intrusive on the world stage. But decades of moving to the center socially and financially global by the GOP brass, loss of both education & media to the hard left, and the largest generation of this country being enthralled with boundless consumption - that ‘reasonable leader’ ship has sailed.
It is a thin line between kick ass mover and shaker & ‘benevolent dictator’. I pray our Constitution will enforce that line.
We just need a big war that drafts men and women…when people start dying and being mutilated in mass quantities it seems to bring us all together…and remind us that the world is still a fucked up place…i.e it makes us more conservative lol
We would be more grateful. The guy who owned the gym I used to train at, his dad was in Vietnam the same time my Grandad was.
One day, I asked Jon (the guy who owned the gym) why his Dad was always so happy and friendly with people he didn’t even know. He responded: “He’s happy he’s not getting shot at anymore.”
I imagine my Grandad (former Army Special Forces) holds similar reservations.
Good stuff, and my view is what we’re seeing are the effects of the 60s Left and the 80s Right, bringing out the worst in both sides of the aisle, and there is no such reasonable leader - conservative or liberal - on the horizon.
l thought l could overlook some Rubio differences because compromise is a must.
Here are why l say no to Rubio.
That stunt of ‘I’m quitting the Senate because of gridlock.’ He is not a child, and that tells me he has no sand and no self motivation to do his job as an elected Senator.
IIRC - he has never been in the workplace. Part of our problem is that boys that never accomplished any stature as a soldier, ladder climber, or even as man want to sit in the Oval Office. Professional pols for the most part.
Where will the executive experience come from? He is a legislator. As different as baseball to basketball, imo.
Maybe, but to me, he lacks an earnestness that fits the @treco model. Like Treco said, Rubio blew off his Senate responsibilities and doesn’t appear to be all that serious.
But, I think some of that could be forgotten in time, especially as he matures and maybe makes his mark. But I think you’re right - he’s go to get some executive experience. I just don’t think there will be appetite for a career-ish Senators for a while.
Or he thought the Senate was something it wasn’t. A Brietbart article says he did know what he was getting into but I can’t say that info isn’t biased. But yeah, we can say he wasn’t motivated. I’ll give you that.
I had to search his wiki for the 2nd point. He was city commissioner of West Miami for a year before joining the house of Florida. Between the house and the senate he started his own law firm and was an adjunct professor so it’s safe to say he has very little workplace experience.
Your third point is of course valid…I was thinking maybe he runs for governor after Rick Scott or something along those lines. I don’t think young junior senators are going to be President for a long time after Obama…they just aren’t prepared to be in that position.
