What if they had been drafted?
But you do want to benefit from their sacrifice. You already do.

I didn’t ask for it. Their country did. Blame it.
Then I would blame you. A country cannot be blamed as it has no mind. It’s the people.
And you would die for that? Wow.
I would die to keep my family safe and free.
You said country, earlier.
And if it can be killed for or sacrificed for, I will blame it where it needs blaming.
That is different.
Protecting my country protects them. The oath soldiers take is to defend the Constitution. I don’t want my kids growing up in some socialist dictatorship.
And it won’t even know.
If only the interests of the country actually always lined up with the interests of of my family.
Much like its awareness of all the blood spilled “for it.”
Not all of it was.
The country or the government?
Here, I’ll save us both the back and forth.
Don’t want to die doing a job? Don’t take that job. Don’t want to carry out the functions of the job you elected to take? Don’t take the job I don’t want to deal with domestics, I still want a police force.
If I wanted to prove the size of my testicles, I’d have been a lineman, a logger, or something else. They don’t even need parades and “thank you for your service” You needn’t kill anyone either.
.
Well, the country will never care, as you said. At least the representatives of a government might. Might.
There are a slew of options within the military that aren’t front line centric. If you genuinely believe a cause is worth sacrificing American lives, you can do so without ever taking a life or adding any real risk to losing your own.
I wouldn’t expect you to. Millions of Americans share your sentiment that many causes are worth someone else’s life but certainly not their own. I accept I’m in the minority with my views
Did your plan start with enlisting? If not, there’s a chance that’s why nobody listened lol
Or, you can work in the private sector and pay taxes
Any American who would not want to be a lineman (a more dangerous job than being a service member), yet flicks the light switch on to take a leak, shares my sentiment.
Oh, and you do want to defund a standing military that entices young people with benefits?
Which is why I called it a division of risk. Servicemen/women pay taxes iirc
This statement requires so much unpacking I’ll just say ‘LoL’
