Trump Gauntlet is Now Officially Dropped

LOL!! 20 characterzzzzz

That’s a fascinating possibility–there have been a number of extremely unhappy large donors and party elites that have been really having a hard time swallowing the Trump bandwagon to win it thing…i don’t think it is happening but I almost can see it if enough rich donors and leaders go.

I’ve seen/heard three basic versions of this idea…

One would be the hope that the Third Party candidate could get enough electoral votes to prevent a majority, send it to the House, and hope that the House steered things toward the Third Party candidate.

Another is merely that they hope it draws enough votes away from Trump that Hillary wins, not so much because they like Hillary but a) that some of them see her as preferable to Trump and b) they would rather punt this election and come back trying to unseat Hilary in 2020.

The last, and probably most realistic of the possibilities named here (not all that different from part 2b) would be that they don’t actually run a third party, but they’re just rather tepid in their support of Trump, silently hoping for a Hilary win in the fall. This way the Republican “party elites” that we keep hearing about in the news could write off Trump as a one-off, a fluke of a particularly wacky election cycle that “proved” a crazy candidate like him couldn’t win the general election, and try to “reclaim their party” and unseat Hilary in 2020.

@pushharder, I agree that this is a very drastic possibility…but as has been said a number of times on here, this election cycle is like nothing we’ve ever seen, right? On the broader level, getting a little philosophical here…a human lifetime is relatively short compared to “history” - but countries rise and fall, political systems change, etc (I know you know this). Many of history’s landmark events probably seemed drastic or impossible…until they actually happened, right? Isn’t it possible that the primary that’s led to the wackiest candidate we’ve seen in a long time could also lead to moves and countermoves that we’ve not seen in a long time, if ever?

Unquestionably it does. Imagine how bad our soup would taste if we hadn’t abolished slavery.

Oh, I agree entirely. I’m kinda hoping it happens from a pure entertainment standpoint. If I’m going to have an election where I genuinely dislike both of the “traditional” options anyway, why not throw some more wildcards into the mix?

Yes, because abolition of slavery (and recognizing it as social progress, and the general recognition that social progress is good) is tantamount to supporting a left-wing billionaire.

And I thought your previous statement was stupid. You’re on a roll.

Unfortunately, he’s right in some ways. I’ve worked with a lot of guys from south of the border- Central and south america, Caribbean islands, etc. And those dudes had some serious chops. While my fat, stupid american coworkers were busy talking shit about them, the imported workers were running circles around their lazy asses and having a good time doing it.

I don’t doubt what you have said here, its been my experience also.

I do not however think Fox should be preaching what is best for our country when his is a failed state.

Trump is way over the top with many of his comments, but I trust Trump a hell of a lot more than I do someone who is not an American citizen, Mr. Fox concern as far as our economy goes is to support those that his country cant.

I get that too, and agree. When a country has an eager labor pool willing to leave because they don’t have work to match their skill set, a whole lot has gone wrong on many levels, and criticism or advice should be weighted with that in mind.

On the other hand, a lot of our big companies have the model of developing their production processes here, and once that process is optimized and sufficiently simplified, shipping whole divisions out to cheap labor countries. Smart business, but vicious to the people who are basically building their own caskets.

Sorry, Push - the roots and direction of modern conservatism is an interesting topic to discuss, but aren’t up to the task. Go back to coloring in the pages of your NewsMax.

But to the larger point, whatever 21st century conservatism purported to be, it’s progress has been knocked out cold by someone as weak as a reality-TV star who has a chimp’s understanding of the constitution. If asked about the Take Care clause, he’d reply that it was “classy and luxurious”, and that “he’d take great care of the law, like, the best.”

Unpossible. Trump is good at business and stuff. The TV told me so!

Well…how can anyone disagree the sky will certainly fall if Trump is elected President chicken little.

Kidding aside, anyone who reads that article should understand why Trump is unfit for the job. His proposal is absurd.
