Trump Fires Comey, Cites Clinton Missteps

These days I’m skimming the news. Honestly, things are pretty quite if you look at the big picture. Washington being Washington is not really a big deal. The bigger picture is things seem to be looking up at least in the short term, and I am happy about that.

Trump, is taking the war on terror more seriously and committing more resources to actually winning this conflict rather than just another stalemate and I am pleased as punch about that. Does that make the news? Barely, only to criticize the minutia. These decisions are being made by the Generals who actually know how to fight and know how to win. Trump is rubber stamping it which is the way it should have been in the first place. Let those who know how to fight and win do their jobs.
The conflicts will be over sooner and fewer people will die in the long run. So far :+1:

I agree wholeheartedly. But, lest we forget, that subject that republicans (mostly Trump, let’s not give the rest of the GOP huge credit here) was hate and fear, nothing more nothing less. It was wildly effective.

That’s being VERY optimistic, Pat…especially for the Middle East.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Republican per se didn’t tap into jack. Trump–not the Republicans; just Trump and his backers–correctly identified the richness of the vein of anxiety and dislocation that was vexing white working-class Americans. Like the Dems, the GOP missed it entirely. This is why every establishment GOP-nomination candidate crashed and burned so spectacularly.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to say the Dems will retake the House or the Senate, I’m very confident they will gain seats (in the House), and certainly won’t lose any seats.

Mr. Comey wrote the memo detailing his conversation with the president immediately after the meeting, which took place the day after Mr. Flynn resigned, according to two people who read the memo. The memo was part of a paper trail Mr. Comey created documenting what he perceived as the president’s improper efforts to influence a continuing investigation. An F.B.I. agent’s contemporaneous notes are widely held up in court as credible evidence of conversations.

Hater alert! The news gets worse. Conservative pundit Erick Erickson says it’s worse than is being reported. Read the whole thing.

Wheels continue to come off.

Maybe, but I know a war won quickly and decisively is less deadly than one that drags on and on and on.

Fair enough.

Whether or not they fucked up and lucked up or had some actual intelligence behind it, the reps reached and the dems drove people away… in droves.
Trump proves, I think, the Ron Jeremy could have beat hrc. She beat herself.

We can agree that, from an average-voter perspective, HRC was a spectacularly unappealing and uninspiring candidate.

It goes well beyond Hillary beating herself. The majority of the Democratic party had a disillusioned view/lack of empathy for the perceptions of others. “My way or the highway” and being on a high horse does not win over voters, but unfortunately that is the attitude of many Democrats at this juncture.

It’s almost a paradoxical irony to me. While democrats have long prided themselves of being superiorly more accepting of others’ views, they’ve engendered this “intolerance for intolerance,” which alienates traditionalists and conservatives, and ultimately it loses sight of what the democracy and the constitution encompass.

Democrats have “Intolerance for intolerance”?

I think you misspelled “Loathing for those that hold any view other than the party line.”

Oppose late term (partial birth) third trimester convenience abortions “War on women!”

Oppose unlimited unvetted immigration from countries nowhere near Syria. “Xenophobe!”

Ask for a coherent immigration policy and laws on the books to actually be enforced for the first time ever: “Racist!”

The condescension and histrionics is wearing thin. That’s why The deplorables comment dogged Hillary so hard, because she truly believed it. The republicans are weak, corrupt and inept… but they are still a better choice than the Democrats.

The worst part of all of this is they are learning no lessons from the drumming. They are doubling down on the false moral outrage and claiming their opponents (the voters and the pols) are evil creatures. In short the Resist movement is a tantrum.

There is merit to your points, but the examples of opposing late term abortion and “unlimited unvetted immigration” are hyperbole.

Pardon. I was conflating NOW with the Democrat party.

The support for non-war (non Syria) economic refugees is a plank though yes? Efforts to vet and reduce their number are demagogued by prominent Democrats.

Certainly. Descriptors of unlimited and unvetted would just be inaccurate.

That is the price of Identity politics and PC culture. It’s an elitist lie that most are wise to, yet are still afraid to confront it for the names we will be called for calling things what they are. “Bigot” “Fascist” “Racist” “Xenophobe” “Homophobic” are not terms of endearment, they are hate speech designed to shut down honest conversation and vilify people “they” are afraid may have a point. Most don’t want to deal with that so we dance around it in as much as we can.
