Itās Manhattan, so if the lights ever do go out, the leftists would be eating each other within a week. If rumors are true, basic public works are already breaking down like trash pickup and snow removal.
For all of the far-left wackiness in Maine, at least we have functioning public works for the most part except for road maintenance. The frost heaves are really doing a number on my street and other side-streets, and this year they are bad enough that I have to drive in a zig-zag with my Avalon or Iāll bottom out. The Tundra still conquers every poorly-maintained road in Maine easily.
On the subject of Maine, Graham Platner is actually running a very effective campaign right now. Maybe covering up his Nazi tattoo really was a final solution. Heās blitzkrieging across the state, doing tons of well-attended town halls and doing his best to reach across the aisle. He does this by being extremely vague about his Mamdani politics and cultivating a very classical Marxist anti-corporate and anti-billionaire class-based resentment while never reminding anyone that Democrats have had single-party rule here since 2019.
Susan Collins isnāt the greatest Republican, but sheās not a communist, either.

Democrats already beat Trump to that one, and lower taxes is a hard sell compared to G-Wagons, million dollar homes, and the convenience of running a taxpayer funded NGO or a home healthcare agency that gets every invoice sent to the government paid without question.
Oh, they have policy positions alright, and 99 percent of illegal immigrants know exactly how those policies benefit them. Democrats sing it from the highest hilltops every chance they get.
Here in Maine, Portland city council just implemented a 60 day rent freeze due to people supposedly cowering in fear of ICE. Our wokest city councilor in Lewiston just floated the same idea, but it didnāt go to a vote. Iām not sure how they even have the authority to do something like that.
Trump is actually 100 percent correct on this very straightforward tweet. It wonāt end woke instantly, but the SAVE act would likely be a fatal blow. How long it takes the embodiment of Marx to bleed out is anyoneās guess, but secure elections would probably do it.

Barring my other beliefs about the sham that is democracy, I agree.
Also, make voting day into a federal holiday.
Probably start implementing blockchain technology into voting for greater transparency and external auditing capabilities.
I donāt think our system is fundamentally a sham, but a combination of voter apathy, lying Democrats cheating every chance they get, corruption in both parties, and mass media hellbent on making us believe lies have resulted in a pretty dysfunctional system.
Part of why Iām still so bullish on Trump is that heās the first President to even begin to tackle any of that, but right now the ball is in Congressās court.
Elon Muskās purchase of X continues to prove to be a media revolution. The Washington Post just laid off 300 people because they canāt compete in a free market when people have to choose to pay them.

We still are a constitutional republic, at least on paper.
If only property owning heads of households had voting rights, the system would be even easier to game. Youād have WAY fewer voters who just needed to be made beneficiaries of government corruption. Feudalism all over again, basically.
The framework is still pretty solid, in my opinion. Better than feudalism, but still a vulnerable system. Tweaks are needed, not a revolution.

I see authoritarianism as the opposing force of democracy. Itās a scale. On the other end a everybody in society can have a decision how it works, and as we move more and more towards authorianism, less and less people have any role in decision making.
Feudalism was more tied to an economic system (it was handy when money based economy was absent), and to warfrare/recruitment.
Of course feudalism needs to be unjust and undemocratic to work properly, it was closely tied to a estate system. But egalitarian societies did not really exist pre-enlightenment times anyway.

I agree with your nitpcking for the most part. I was just reaching back for a term that tied political power to landowning.
Here in the present time and location of Maine, Democratic Socialism, aka gay race communism, is the prevailing system. Itās only possible with deeply rigged elections, so āauthoritarianā would be a good way of describing their method of plundering the land.
Hereās the latest grift being proposed by some of Maineās most notorious grifters. Gateway Community Services was also one of the recipients of mass shooting donations collected under the pretense that they would help people affected by the mass shooting, not Somali grifters.

Actually stealing elections doesnāt seem to bother the Our Democracy ā¢ crowd much at all. They fought very hard here in Maine to stop voter ID, including a remarkable 12:1 ratio opposing it among UOCAVA voters, a population overseen exclusively by our Democratic Socialist Secretary of State Shenna Bellows.
