Me? Never. If everything was alright I’d start some chaos just to feel comfortable again.
Andrew left? When? Why?
Sorry to hear that. I hope he made it.
I wasn’t going to do that, just use my extensive experience as a beard to pull a reverse uno.
LOL you should do it. That would be hilarious.
I’ve noticed Andrewgen hasn’t posted in a while and it looks like he deleted his profile. He wouldn’t be the first to do so and people do it for all kinds of reasons.
T-nation has been the only social media I regularly post on for my entire posting on social media career. Lifting weights is still interesting to me, but not as interesting as local politics and national politics. I don’t have much to add to the fitness part of the site that others don’t do much better than me, so talking with meatheads about politics is what I like to do here…
In local news, Lewiston has sent out property revaluation letters, and many people have found that their assessments have doubled, tripled, or even gone up 4x. They haven’t announced the mil rate yet, but people are already in shock and anticipating a multiple thousands per year increase.
The Mayor is up for reelection this year along with several council seats, so naturally they are trying to defer it until next year. The city has been doing this for decades now, with the last revaluation happening 38 years ago.
It’s also budget season and we’re being told the usual pack of nonsense that all of the city’s spending is “essential” and budget cuts are too challenging to actually happen.
There may be a lot of properties going on the market for home healthcare entrepreneurs to scoop up, and that’s what I predict will happen with many.

Same here, I mean, I’ll check a thread or 2, but what else is there to talk about? I’ve been coming here since Prof X was aggravated that Alpha’s training methods and physique might give newbies the wrong idea on how to train for BB and @BrickHead was still called Bricknyce.

How does that work, could you explain? You’re talking about how much a property s worth now or what?

Do y’all have an appeal process for this?

Yes. There’s a lot to the process that has happened over the last 38 years since the last city-wide revaluation. By all indications, the longer you’ve owned your home, the bigger the hit will likely be.
The assessments are the official value of your property in the City of Lewiston’s eyes. They levy property taxes on it based on a “mil rate” that is expressed in a percentage per $1,000 of valuation.
Fixed income retirees will have a lot of trouble keeping up with this and other new taxes, especially people who bought their houses decades ago. It is something that should be done much more frequently than every 38 years.
Politicians are using predictable language to explain to the public that Lewiston is “expected to provide more services”, which is a not-so-subtle code for things like the low-barrier homeless shelter, needle distribution, funding for other nonprofits, and lots of funding that gets directed towards immigrants, particularly the powerful Somali voting bloc. It includes a number of well-paying positions city hall could easily function without, like our DEI coordinator whose position was re-named to “economic development coordinator”, a six-figure communications position who communicates very little outside of a few facebook posts per day, and other politically nepotistic sinecures.
It also includes a LOT of school budget items that simply aren’t necessary, like full-time coaches for teachers who already have a bachelor’s degree that was supposed to teach them how to teach, lots of administrative positions, lots of translation services, and all kinds of other things progressives have decided are “vital” to their demonstrably failing vision of city government and public education.
As much as I’d like to see a tax revolt of some kind, it will likely just mean a lot of the people you want living in a city like Lewiston will leave like the others, and more people you don’t want living here will move in. Meanwhile, the same thing is happening with businesses. They just make it so difficult to run a business here, and all of the shootings and needles don’t do a good job of encouraging more investment.
If you look at a map of Maine, there is NO reason why Lewiston (and any other city on the I-95 corridor) shouldn’t be doing quite well. It’s gorgeous here, and Lewiston is actually in a great location to access so much of what New England has to offer. In less than an hour, I can drive to mountain trails, ski resorts, dozens of public access lakes, multiple rivers, rugged and rocky coastlines, sandy ocean beach, Portland shopping and restaurants (including the airport), many state parks, and lots of quaint small New England towns.
Boston is only 2.5 hours away, and you can make it to NYC in 5 hours with favorable traffic.
Maine Democrats needed to buy new voters, though, and someone’s gotta pay for the imported voting bloc.
Do y’all have an appeal process for this?
Yes, although I don’t think many will get particularly far with it. The hammer is going to drop, one way or another.
property taxes
I have a problem with this. It’s not enough that they tax your income, which you use to buy your property, then you have to pay tax over the property that you acquired.
Is it really yours if you have to pay tax over it?
What you have there is something like a ‘‘what if the Nordic model was run by Mexicans?’’
I think the time is ripe for the rise of a socialist party in the US.
Maine hits you from every angle. High property tax, high income tax, taxes on restaurants, and very high excise taxes on vehicles and other personal property.
What you have there is something like a ‘‘what if the Nordic model was run by Mexicans?’’
That’s not too far off the mark. I’ve long suspected that I am actually living in a corrupt narco state. If I were a drug kingpin, I can’t think of too many public policies I’d want to change here in Maine. The government seems calibrated to facilitate medical billing fraud. Organized crime in general seems to have found a fantastic home here, along with lots more petty crime and gunfire than Maine has ever experienced. There was another shooting here in Lewiston last night.

LOL many people sure seem to think so!
I think the best term for what we have was actually coined by a communist dissident in Nazi Germany. “The Vampire Economy” is a book that explains what doing business was like under National Socialism, and while Maine isn’t quite as bad as a centrally-planned command economy, it isn’t much better. Germany at least had a very well-educated population. Maine’s literacy rates are abysmal compared to Weimar Germany’s.
Speaking of various forms of illiteracy, a clip has surfaced of Ilhan Omar referring to World War II as World War 11. 11han Omar will never live this one down, and she shouldn’t.

Gotta be a brain fart. Or maybe it’s Haram to use any numerals other than the one they stole from India. There’s no way she can’t at least know 1 2 3. 4 might be a dfferent story cause you have to know 5 and how many 'I’s to subtract…
Definitely a brain fart. Still, this is the least worrying thing to come out of her mouth. If I were 'murican I’d want her stripped off her citizenship and deported home, where she could be happy without all the fascism and discrimination and lack of priviledge.
Any thruth to the story that she married her own brother? chatgpt says it’s bs but I keep hearing it.
To be fair to her, she corrected herself. She definitely married someone who has been referred to as related to her in now-deleted posts, but the record keeping of Somalia is not known for its accuracy or integrity.
She’s definitely a swamp creature who is Somalia first, as are many local and state level politicians in Maine.
To be fair to her, she corrected herself.
Did she?
Yes.
Andrew left? When? Why?
it looks like he deleted his profile.
He had a issue with one of the mods that he felt was unfair, so he went on a scorched earth campaign to eliminate his presence on this site.
I liked the guy, but he had to do how he do.
I thought he might have grown sick of my pedantry during my last conversation with him about the historical meaning of “cartridges” and “magazines”.
I guess it was the hormones.

There are mods here?
The only one I remember was some pencil neck who gave out reasonable training advice but looked like your average IT guy. I don’t think I’ve noticed another one in a while.
That’s too bad, I liked Andrew.
“cartridges” and “magazines”.
I think most people mix those up all the time.
I think most of it is automated but there’s probably a human behind some of it. Andrewgen could be pretty adversarial at times, but I missed all that drama, so who knows?
Colucci was a nice guy and gave good advice, but nobody came to the site for him when there are so many people logging detailed explanations of what they do like pwn and Alpha.
Back to Trump news, the DOJ raided The Quality Learing Center and 19 other “businesses” in Minneapolis today. The City of Minneapolis just gave the most Lewiston response ever.
City of Minneapolis
And Tim Walz gave the most retarded communist response you can imagine after allowing fraud to thrive. I expect to hear something similar from Janet Mills when more feds roll into Maine.
And then he got dunked on by Kash Patel. Imagine if Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis had twitter back in the day…
FBI Director Kash Patel
Governor Tim Walz @GovTimWalz
Andrewgen could be pretty adversarial at times
I’d like to see him bouncing. Should be entertaining.
Colucci
That’s it, I had forgotten his name. If memory serves me, he was summoned by HR, then they asked him ‘‘do you even lift, bro’’ and sacked him.
Tim Walz gave the most retarded communist response you can imagine after allowing fraud to thrive.
It would’ve been smarter to stfu but to be honest your boy Trump is not exactly uncapable of taking credit for things he has nothing to do with.
So much shit has happened on a daily basis that I had forgotten that they killed Pretti and Renee. Good.
So much shit has happened on a daily basis that I had forgotten that they killed Pretti and Renee. Good.
That’s been the point.
We can have leaders who don’t take pride in flooding the zone with shit.
Maybe character does matter, instead of endless whataboutisms that give people passes.

I agree with you on that.
