Trump 2025 - Resuming The National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity (Part 1)

I agree. Burning it down would be.

Defunding it though, thats a pretty good idea.

At some point somebody had to say Stop! Where is all of this money going, and what is it going for?

This is what he said: "[children should be] thinking about their future instead of thinking about how they’re going to sponge out the government when they don’t need to.”

He just described over 99% of politicians. No politician should be crying about freeloaders.

The problem is, “somebody” is bringing their own beliefs and biases into the equation. I don’t want phony Puritans making curriculum decisions.

That will solve all of our problems. Anything to avoid doing the job they are paid to do.

I’m at a loss then. Who should be the one that says “Stop!” and puts some breaks on this stuff?

Its a case of Perfect is the enemy of good.

Not politicians. Let the “market” decide. No one is forced to hire a woke college grad.

Thats one way.

It has already resulted in a bunch of working class people bailing them out by the billions, but since the right to a higher education is virtually guaranteed at this point, and there are no laws against being stupid, that will have to do, huh?

That’s been the main point. It’s not their main concern by any means, but it’s not something that hasn’t been mentioned by somebody.

This is the argument against it.

I know you don’t use them or like them, but can you really not see how, “for all of us,” losing, even temporarily, access to school lunches and WIC might be problematic?

Lot of tribal leaders are sending out tribal IDs to tribal members who live off the reservations. There’s nothing special about them - it’s just another form of identification. It’s just usually only people who live on tribal land who carry them. I’ve never had one because I don’t live on a reservation and I just use my state issued driver’s license, but lots of Natives, mostly in the Southwest so far, are already being questioned/detained by ICE so I guess they’re just trying to help make sure people have as much documentation as possible. Especially since people don’t generally carry around social security cards or birth certificates.

I don’t know what ICE’s reasoning is exactly, besides, “Hey, you’re brown. You Mexican?” Lol.

So, no?

In 1884, it was obvious that there was no birthright citizenship, because such did not exist even for Indian tribes(who had a stronger claim than illegals and temporary visitors).

In 1923, an Act of Congress was required to give all American Indians citizenship.

I’m not sure what you mean by “This is the argument against it.”

What you’ve posted is strong evidence that “birthright citizenship” is a poor interpretation, and that American Indians are in no danger of having their citizenship revoked(at least, by anything Trump does…if enough Democrats get back in power, it’s hard to say what kind of absurdities they’ll try to pull off if Trump is successful or liked).

And an Act of Congress could legalize all immigrants now. Edit to this last sentence: That’s not to say posting one of these signs in your yard, as a white person who intentionally lives far away from the nearest minority, isn’t helping:

Agreed. If somebody wants to spend $50k plus’s per semester to get a degree in Female Studies and become a weird asshole in the process, they should be left to own full consequence. Just because they can’t find a Women’s Studies company to work for and responsibly pay their debt with like an adult doesn’t mean the rest of us owe them the favor. Actions have consequences. I’m sure that Starbucks job and a friends couch will go far.

Can’t confirm but rumor has it some of the tribes along or near the border collude or directly work with cartels to varying degrees. It’s my understanding they aren’t publicly targeted but have been on radars.

Could be “you look like a duck” though.

Yeah. I mean, silly me- using pell grants at the local CC and a little cash out of pocket to get a useful degree, then go straight to work with it.

I would still recommend college for productive degrees, if the career path is what a student wants. I just think the sentiment of having any old degree equating to a bajillion dollar salary is dumb.

I agree community college is a viable path, and trade schools.

Would still love to see an overhaul of public school systems to put primary focus on useful knowledge as well, and integrate workforce preparedness alongside college prep.

I mean the attached document is what people are saying supersedes the previous one, so they’re using it to say Trump can’t revoke Indian citizenship.

It used to be like that, 25-30 years ago. Like, my old girlfriend’s degree was in psych, but she had a real talent for coding and software support so that was her actual career. But the thinking was that any degree was worth more than none, based on the prerequisites to have earned one. That was somewhat reasonable at the time.

Yeah. The one for my county has parity agreements with Pitt, CMU, and Penn State so that a student doesn’t lose all of their credits if/when they transfer, and the assumption is that you will be going to one of those or a few other state colleges in the region to finish your degree or further. Getting like 100+ credits toward a science or engineering degree from a CC can save an assload of money in the long run.

I think more emphasis should be put on tech schools and expanding their curriculum. The majority of the work force is applying and using the tech that the sciences developed.

They said that in my state too. At least, our governor did. She even had imagined up some gang names for who was doing what. Then when the tribal leaders, state law enforcement, and FBI asked her where she was getting her information because none of them were aware of the gang she was naming…crickets.

Crickets is also the name of the dog that ended her VP run :joy:

Speaking of, have you paid any attention to Kristi Noem? Think she’s at all prepared for her new position compared to someone from Texas or somewhere more affected by homeland security?

DEI hire.

No! All she did was sleep with Trump’s buddy.
