But asking me to do something that’s objectively unnecessary like include my pronouns, or focus on “intentional inclusivity”, or to do things because someone else “feels marginalized”, that’s ridiculous.
I mean I don’t care if you share you pronouns, but don’t ask me to do it. If there are policies that are excluding certain groups, those should be fixed. I suppose that’s the whole Equal Opportunity/Equality vs Equity thing.
I guess this is maybe a fitting place to pick back up the gendered bathroom and locker room thing. A straight man in the woman’s locker room (who claims to be female for the purpose of getting in there) seems to be really similar to a gay man in the mens locker room – or in shared showers – who’s clearly checking out their bodies.
I realize I switched between sexuality and gender there, and I also realize there’s still a long distance between the discomfort of that, and actual sexual harassment. I’m also not sure of the definition of “indecent exposure” and how it fits in this case, especially in a privately owned space.
On a personal note, sometimes my daughter has needed to change in the men’s locker room after swimming lessons (and my son with my wife). Those locker room provides private curtained changing areas.
I think if there was a law that new construction requires at least one private gender-neutral stall (or bigger, like the typical “family restroom” you see), this is relatively noninvasive and nonexclusive. I can’t relate, but I mentally can reason this: someone who is trans should not have to pick between two choices where they are damned either way. It also provides an option for a man/woman who doesn’t want to share a bathroom with a man/woman.

I saw a few videos from the ground during the night activities. Not mainstream media, and didn’t seem to be too biased in their editing. (Daytime stuff is peaceful.)
My first impression was that it’s worse than I thought.
The videos showed chaotic and aggressive movements, hyped up hate-filled vitriol, screaming, lights, strobes, sirens. Very obnoxious and indecent behavior. Adult tantrumming. Through the camera, the repetitive sirens and strobes really came through, psychological torture methods that trigger a physiological response.
So my first impression was “it’s actually pretty bad”. And then I thought about it a bit more objectively. This is only happening at one city block, over maybe a 10,000 square feet area. There are no weapons being brandished, there’s no weapon injuries. There’s no looting, there’s no vandalism to surrounding property. There’s a bit of brawling, but it’s on par with what happens at a rowdy bar on the weekends, if you edit it all together.
I’d almost liken it to a big-rivalry college football game when the home team loses, and people supporting the away team cross paths with a group of pissed off rowdy drunks. That stuff has gotten more out of hand than this.
It certainly “feels” bad though as a viewer, especially with the flashing lights and annoying sounds and unpredictability. Plus the yelling and language.
Yet it’s actually quite impotent and ineffective. Not much is actually happening.

What you’re describing reminds me of my bouncing days. Between being seen repping out 405 plus squats on a regular basis, training with the baddest dudes in the area on a regular basis, and most importantly, being SEEN rag-dolling chumps like children, I managed to accumulate a pretty solid local reputation. This resulted in a LOT less shenanigans on my shifts than other bouncers who, for whatever reason, people were more comfortable starting fights around and other various forms of dive bar fuckery. Some of those bouncers even instigated it.
