Trump 2025 - Resuming The National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity (Part 1)

I don’t think that’s funny at all. Since it leads to situations like Kirk.

You can laugh to that. I don’t see people shot to death laughable.

I would not be surprised if the deranged shooter has found “truth” and acted rightfully by his/hers standards. Hitler thought he was right. I’m sure Putin does too.

Thanks for the discussion.

You just missed the last several thousand words on the importance of ideals being derived from a higher power, didn’t you?

Yeah, but they’re ideals and values. Nothing to do with facts or truths.

I guess hard believers would see it kinda differently. But there’s questions that can be laid as hard truths and stuff that can’t.

Ok, now I quit.

The irony at this point must be on purpose, you masterful jokester.

:hugs:

I also have work to do. Have a nice day. :grin:Maybe we learned something, or maybe not. It was an interesting conversation anyway.

I’ll take this as a compliment. Discussions should raise emotions and challenge how you see the world.

Socrates was hated for being the asshole who questioned everything and always asked why? or how?

Yeah, but what did he know? :man_shrugging:t2:.

Maybe you can be Descarterian. He said that only things he can trust to be actually true are God and mathematics.

I’d very much agree.

Socrates saying “I know nothing” should not be understood as a acceptance of ignorance.

But rather as humility towards truth and aim to understand it.

When you hear claims “Russia’s war in Ukraine is justified” or “Trump is a nazi”, don’t just rely on your emotions and say “bullshit”. Ask how they support these claims and search arguments/counter arguments/information by yourself. After doing the work properly, you can usually say how likely these things are true.

Socrates relied on the process of rational/critical thinking, but these days we can use some empirism too.

Yeah. Thats in a massive colission with the contemporary modus operandi.

“I KNOW EVERYTHING!!!” Is like the battle cry for the boldly stupid/ignorant but completely unashamed social media thumb sluts of todays world.

Tolerance means just that, you tolerate something even though you don’t like it. You may find particular speech abhorrent, but the idea in free speech is you understand the person’s right to say it without acting violently.

Something the left never gave a shit about going back over a century, which many people don’t understand, and why conservatives always lose. No, they don’t want a “middle ground” or to “hear the other side out”. The left has always been extremely violent and wanted to destroy people and things. The phrase “my way or the highway” fits, whenever they come up with something that will upend society.

I also don’t understand why right-wingers want a conversation for everything.

And they are always morphing! As shown in this country: 1. Class. —> 2. Race. —> 3. Sex (current morph).

For anyone who cares to answer: why have some people looked at others talking about civil war and social collapse as if they were nuts? They spoke of the US as an invincible entity, not fragile like every civilization that ever existed.

I agree. Even though there are limitations in free speech, this is it.

But of course free speech will have consequences. Like someone believing she/he did the right thing shooting Kirk. It does not mean we should limit the free speech, but we need to understand that includes some people having pretty twisted worldviews.

I did read about Kirk. Never heard of him before. Even that he did say some silly stuff, I think he was doing the right thing in promoting open dialogue and had several debates against liberals.

That’s exactly what US needs now. More open debate, less shooting.

As long as we all understand and react knowing the shooter is incorrect. Charlie kirk did nothing wrong. Everyone should agree on this.

No disrespect to your thread, but, each of you take a few minutes to remember those who died in 9/ 11.

9/11 Remembered – The Toll

On this 24rd commemoration of that fateful day which saw so many of us fling to corners of the earth to track down those behind this heinous act and bring them to justice, I want to remember the feeling of that day as it transpired. A feeling of helplessness. I want to remember it because I don’t ever want to have the feeling again.

There were 2996 immediate deaths on September 11th, 2001. I will never forget the people who cheered that day, celebrating an attack on America and the deaths of so many innocents. I woke up this morning and checked my usual news sites. Almost nothing about the events of 9/11/01. It took 23 years for America to forget its dead and abandon a unified purpose.

Regardless of which way the political winds blow, I remain a patriot. But in a greater sense, I will also always honor those from other nations who stood with us on that day and throughout the ensuing decades of conflict. After all, there were victims from 90 countries on 9/11. A sick ideology attacked the world and despite our efforts, it lives on, dug in like a tick.

The crisis remains. Every year we lose more and more amazing people to issues caused by those events. Victims and rescuers alike suffer life threatening medical conditions due to the exposure to toxins during the attacks and continue to succumb to these lingering wounds. As a country, we must stand by them.

Even now, the world is faced with the continued threat of Islamic fundamentalism that targets our ideals in both word and deed. We must oppose them in every case, lest our efforts thus far, be in vain.

The toll…it weighs on.

But, it would be the Morriset ironic.

Is it ironic that none of the things she mentions is actually ironic?

This is one of the reasons conservatives always lose and are always ceding to the left and ducking for cover. Because the left always wins and dictates what’s currently acceptable, “right wingers” give in because they don’t want to appear mean and heartless. They give into intimidation and emotional blackmail, thought I think that is changing in young males.

We should also get over the silly notion that all leftists are stupid and unattractive, congruent with the silly notion that all feminists are overweight, pierced, heavily tattooed, and pierced.

Also, though I typically tune out of serious conversations at the dinner table, one might notice from observation or from occasional indulgence in such conversation with lefits, is this.

  1. An aversion to moral constraints.
  2. Indifference to the pain and suffering of others.
  3. Empathy for those least deserving of it.
  4. An inclination to wreck time-tested institutions.
  5. Gaslighting and emotional blackmail.
  6. Not giving a damn about what you’re saying and dismissing evidence.
  7. An inclination to destroy society.
  8. Twisting the meanings of words (eg, “predator,” "pdf file,” “racist,” “fascist,” “stalking,” “harassment,” “abuse,” etc.)

Acceptable? No. Should you be shot for it or prosecuted by the government? Also, no.

No books should be banned for access for adults, but children should not be given access to explicit material before adulthood or without parental consent.

This is a spineless coward take. The entire point of free speech is not having to worry about what you say or be cautious. When that is being attacked, your nation is close to the end or massive amounts of violence.

In any event, my attempts or willingness to understand anyone with certain views is over - family included. I will no longer entertain or debate those views. I will simply ignore / walk away from the conversation. My civility on certain topics is no longer there and those topics are not exclusive to one political party. And anyone with these views will be fully excluded from my help or generosity going forward. This is going to be a large wake-up call for a handful - especially in my family.

Best of luck to everyone. It has been fun and it has been real, but it has not been real fun.

Don’t really disagree about anything. Maybe we understand the word caution differently.
