I don’t know what’s worse, the actual act of the stabbing or the bystanders doing nothing.
That footage damn near makes me want to cry.

He’s whipping the nation into a frenzy with it.
People asked for it. Then demanded. Then started petitions, moving for political action, etc. Once it reaches a fevered pitch- he’s gonna cut it loose.
The comparisons to PT Barnum are fair. I’d never debate that.
Its called dispersion of responsibility. Everybody stands there saying “Someone needs to do something” assuming that somebody (else) will.
There are case studies on this that will break you. This is going to be another one.
What’s the benchmark for that? It feels like it’s been fevered for a long time now.
I want my president to be better than him. That seems like a low ask.
I agree with you, and hope that in a similar situation I would help in spite of being (most likely) scared shitless by the knife and by all the blood.
Just to note, Daniel Penny in NYC saved a (future life if not in the moment) life by intervening in a similar situation (a lot more warning from the crazy person), the crazy person died from the restraining choke hold, and Penny got arrested and prosecuted for his efforts.
It is, but look at the pool we’re fishing in. This isn’t a pristine glacier fed stream filled with salmon. Its a sewer plant after a chili cookoff filled with used condoms and spicy brown bean babies.
Well that’s a self-defeatist attitude.
Look where it got us.
Look on the bright side.
Off to food porn then!
And the gym.
I wanted my President to be better than Joe Biden, a worm-crawlingly low ask.
I’ve been supremely surprised to the upside.
More evidence of impending inflation; NOT.
The previous director of the BLS most certainly deserved to be fired, whether for incompetence or corruption, take your pick:
Both much better choices than politics.
Its too bad that the people who choose elected offices insist on being so important. Poor stewards of public trust.
That’s one reason my utopian brain thinks a lottery for public service would be interesting. It would certainly increase civic engagement, force us to create a robust educational system, and really kneecap lobbyists.
What if a random 10 members of this thread got to be senators tomorrow?
Poland has dropped Russian drones in Poland’s airspace.
There were several of them, and most experts think it was not an accident. Rather a test.
Not that Russia could do much against Poland. So there’s not likely going to be a declaration of how ”Poland threatens Russian sovereignity and they are forced to act”.
Russia is claiming to have nothing to do with it, and I’m actually inclined to believe Russia. It makes a lot more sense for Ukraine to launch captured Russian drones into Poland than it does for Russia to launch an attack or incursion into Poland.
Big Z already tried this with the missile a few years ago.
I’ve also encourtered this theory. It’s a possibility, but a stretch. It would be super desperate all-in play from their side. Caught with something like this would end the western sympathy and it would mean end to Ukraine.
Russia has long history of this kind of actions, and it surely would like to see Poland vassalised again.
But I also do recon this does not make much sense either, it would be very risky and dum move from their part.
Not that we will ever know the truth probably. It’s a conserning thing anyway. These kind of escalations will only increase when both sides are being more worn out and desperate.
The US is already there.
Maybe our “leaders” aren’t that are profiting and laundering money that way, but the US citizens are tired and $37 trillion in debt.
But its still selling stuff to Ukraine and trying to negotiate sensible peace to end the war. That’s sympathy for me.
Indeed. As a cold war Sailor I saw first hand that the pestering, provoking, and agitating by the Russians have no limit.
