IMO……Local zoning is the bigger issue.
Idk how to solve this issue.
Peeps just keep dying no matter how many boosters they take and masks they wear.
This book caught my attention years ago but I just never got around to reading it.
If I tally up the premature deaths among my friends and acquaintances over the last 30 years, “deaths of despair” are the front runner and it isn’t even close. Luckily it hasn’t struck my family.
Motorcycle accidents are a distant second.
You halv a liocense to post that mate?
Terminal case of the fuckits.
Life’s tough, but it beats the alternative.
Avoid disappointment, reduce expectations.
Now, when people live longer they’ll be like “Yay! I got some extra!” instead of being old and grumpy.

Whoa, there. I’d like to make some obvious corrections:
Peeps just keep dying because they have one too few boosters and are wearing one too few masks.
No one knows just how many are needed, but I’m certain we can eliminate death with enough of them.

At this point, I believe anyone still wearing a mask should be wearing at least 35 of them.
Enough to restrict all airflow.
I think this is going to be the ignition point. Boomers as individuals are fine, but the aggregate is so parasitic.
I love the Roman idea of people being randomly chosen via lotteries to serve one term in office. Bring in the plumbers and farmers and accountants and ski instructors and bartenders.
I think the most boomer moment I ever had was when I met my mother-in-law for the first time and she said “People under 40 are too dumb and shouldn’t be able to vote” and my smart ass immediately responded “No one who collects social security should vote because they will die before their shit comes to fruition and effect them.”
Needless to say, I’ve been the black sheep ever since.
Have you met an average person? And then thought that half of the people are dumber than they are? Idiocracy
Have you met a politician?
And they’re allowed to vote all the same.
Democracy isn’t all its cracked up to be.
4% of the US voted for Trump in the primaries. And here we are.
I am not smart enough for this many people to be dumber than me.
Like him or not, Elon Musk probably administered the lethal wound to the reign of corrupt and incompetent politicians. We will still have them, but not so damn many.
The mainstream media is dying from a thousand cuts, many self-inflicted, but they simply cannot compete with a free and open social media space. The mainstream media is why we have so many corrupt career politicians who never leave office.
It won’t happen overnight, but the smart and ethical people have already started the process of making every corrupt, lying politician look like a complete fool, and some of the best just do it as a hobby.
That’s only possible with true free speech and a platform like X.
Ideally we’d have respected institutions staffed with smart, ethical journalists, but all of that capital has been spent. It’s the wild west of news in 2025, and discerning true from false is less clear than ever, but still eminently possible.
Gen X and older millennials are all old enough to have been educated before woke indoctrination and young enough to know technology spanning MS DOS and BASIC all the way to AI. We’re going to be a very small but very important bridge generation to guide society. We have good bullshit detectors lacking in our parents’ generation. .
We don’t need radical ideas, just proven ones. Rather than nominate a stripper by public service lottery, we just need the people with the interest to self select for public office and make the best case possible to the public.
Social media means they can bypass the media and speak directly to their constituents and their opponents in real time in full view of the public. A corrupt liar’s worst nightmare.
Lol.
I don’t think this at all. He really just helped get Trump elected, which Trump already did on his own before. And a portion of the country would argue that Trump is both corrupt and incompetent. All of Congress on both sides is still laughably corrupt, so I don’t see Elon making any real difference. Even with DOGE, they immediately went and passed a monster spending bill. I think Elon has become much more irrelevant since election day.
