I’m also humble enough to realize that Trump knows things I don’t, and still believe there is a good possibility that there is WAY more going on behind the scenes than any of us know about.

Giving this considerable thought, I would say the least likely reason for not releasing the Epstein files is that Trump is a pedo. My take on Trump is that he likes to bed women who are at awe of his power and wealth.
My most likely reason for not releasing the files is the embarrassment that would come to many foreign leaders and wealthy political influencers.
Both sides of the political aisles in the USA would suffer from their names being released. But of the two parties the Democrats would make political hay of the foreign fallout “caused by Trump” plunging in like a bull in a China shop.
Another reason we may never see the files (at least until all guilty persons are dead) is the mutual destruction that would occur at the release of the first name. As I see it, one of the attractions of Epstein’s island is that many powerful men were among many other powerful men and the old threat: “If I go down, we all go down.” It is the perfect protection policy.
I agree that his pride and ego are a source of strength, but I am constantly surprised how people still underestimate his mind after all he has been through and achieved.
To me his wisdom is evident in how he has overcome such a massive, historically unprecedented smear campaign, not to mention assassins.
He’s so smart he invented an entirely new category of victimless crimes that evaded authorities for years until he was convicted of 34 felonies.
