I never considered those Nation of Islam types as real Muslims. I think their adherence to it had more to do with, as Muhammed Ali said, rejecting his slave name and the religion (christianity) imposed upon them by the White Man.

It’s insane how much power the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) has over European countries’ asylum and immigration policies.
Earlier last month, Italy and Denmark urged other European countries to sign a letter criticising the Strasbourg court for tying national lawmakers’ hands with migration issues.
It’s like there’s laws and judges saying ‘‘You HAVE to take in that giant Trojan horse standing outside, you monsters’’.

Emotional blackmail, outright lies, and plain old bullying explains a lot of the lefts’ political success in Maine. Opposing any aspect of their vaguely-defined agenda before or after it becomes ill-conceived public policy is characterized as a moral crisis on par with history’s worst events.
It turns out a lot of people, especially white women, will vote for anything that prevents them from being called a bad name.
The scripted nature of this entire political movement from top-to-bottom across all of Western Civilization should be a clue that someone is up to no good, but not everyone is getting the clue, and still believes that towns like mine lack diversity even though our public school is 50 percent Muslim with 2,000 students who speak no English.
The statue itself was apparently privately-funded, but the base and the ongoing maintenance will be publicly-funded. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “private” donation actually turned out to be tax money laundered through non-profits, or something similar.
I just can’t picture anyone ponying up their own money to commemorate a one-time, unplanned visit to Lewiston by Muhammed Ali 60 years ago. Then again, I know a guy local to Maine with a number of Michael Jordan tattoos, a Jordan vanity license plate, Jordan bumper stickers and a Jordan brand wardrobe.
If he didn’t blow all of his money on that stuff, a guy like him could possibly pony up his own money to erect a Michael Jordan statue. He once flew over Maine on his way to make sports history, and we should commemorate this special event with a bronze statue.
I would visit Lewiston to experience the local Somali culture in “little Mogadishu.”
There have been a couple of decent restaurants over the years and there’s lots of Halal shops, but I’m not sure how much cultural enrichment you’re going to experience. You’ll see a lot of homeless white people panhandling, doing drugs and having psychotic breaks in that area. Just last week we had a dude practicing archery in Kennedy Park, which I suppose is preferable to shooting guns.

I worked with a lot of the guys from the Hannaford DC and corporate office in south Portland. Always got my dose of Maine politics.
LePage wasn’t bad, but he was just a speed bump on the road to radical progressive policy implementation. He’s now running for US Congress, going after Jared Goldens seat.
Maine has been Democrat dominated at all levels since 2018.

In France the parties would rather form coalitions and a cordon sanitaire around Le Pen’s NR to keep them from forming government, while dismissing the issues that leads people to support Le Pen. I don’t know if there’s merit to Le Pen"s embezzlement trial, but the timing seems suspicious, since she seems to be the frontrunner to win the next Presidential race according to the polls.
Germany - similar thing, with the coalitions and the cordon sanitaire around thre AFD. Now, as they gain support, the establishment is trying to make AFD illegal, lest they ascend to power through the popular vote, which would be undemocratic.
Now Merz’ Education Minister is speaking of enacting tougher laws to censor “extremist speech” and “unverified theories” on social media, to “protect democracy” (lol), as if their hate speech laws weren’t restrictive enough.
