Trump 2025 - Resuming The National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity (Part 1)

Of course illegal immigration cannot be stopped with thousands of miles of border, but Trump has conclusively demonstrated that it can be severely limited by border policy enforcement by the executive branch enforcing existing laws.

Contrary to the Biden claim, no act of Congress was needed to achieve this.

The invasion was planned, executed, and has now been stopped.

In 2025, I don’t think there is any benefit to continuing the archaic policy of birthright citizenship as it has existed.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States.”

Born OR naturalized in the United States. Are you unclear on what born means?

But do you think the president can change the Constitution with an executive order?

I look at “born or naturalized” as a couplet of sorts. They might have some commonality. That commonality could be based on a position of legal residence within the borders of the USA. If you cannot be naturalized without being here legally, why can you be born from a mother who is “illegal” in the eyes of the law give birth to a “legal” child.

You are trying too hard to shape out into what you want it to be. Assuming they DID want to grant citizenship to people born OR naturalized in the US, how could they have said it any clearer in your mind?

The reason I look at the wording so closely is that I strongly believe that the framers of the 14th Amendment would not accept birthright citizenship as the intent of the amendment. No one can convince me of that. As you can see, I am a hard line Originalist.

Which is why the Supreme Court needs to look at the text and the intent of the text when it was written

You’re telling me you don’t think the Second Amendment protects this right?

So am I, but I give them credit for being smart enough to know how to clearly state what they intended. BORN IN is very clear.

I would bet that the framers would have seen the mass illegal immigration of the last four years as an invasion.

I agree.

A quick search says that the rules for birthright citizenship were established under The Naturalization Act of 1790, then more clearly defined by the N.Y. Court Case Lynch v Clark (1844).

And that back in the day, the bill of rights only applied to the Federal Government. State and local governments didn’t have to follow any of those early amendments.

And that when Reconstruction dudes first started talking about the 14th amendment, it’s purpose was to make Southern States (and all states really) accept the Bill of Rights as supreme law.

No, but he can do what is happening now. Issue an executive order interpreting the Constitution in a particular way, the let the courts do their thing.

You mean like just about every other country on Earth? Giving birthright citizenship is absolutely foolish in today’s world.

Sure, there was a large influx due to Bidens policies but, the numbers have just gone back to what they were.

Still does not answer.

A noncitizen isn’t a “second class citizen”. They aren’t a citizen at all.

A process exists for them to become one, if they wish.

How are enforcement actions defined? Those aren’t just stops at the border.

The Dow is up for the year now.

I will only be pleased if, going forward, the Dow has higher highs and higher lows (trending up.)

All the Irish who came to WORK, or the Germans who came to work and contribute to American society? That’s the big difference…these individuals came to this country with nothing, but knew if they worked hard enough, they could lead better lives for themselves and their families. These days, from the Somalis in Lewiston @twojarslave speaks of to all the cockroaches from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc, they come because their shithole countries are poor, corrupt, and they know that here in the US, they can shit out several kids and those kids, now “American citizens”, will be eligible for a variety of benefits. Yes, it’s sad their countries are shitholes, but it is not our problem to take on the burden of caring for them simply because our country is better managed. Many illegals came into our country pregnant but hellbent on getting across that border before their kid came out because of all these benefits.

SO VERY different from the Europeans who came here in the 19th, 20th century. The illegals who come here now, most have no real desire to assimilate into American culture, speak English, or to really push their kids to take advantage of our free public education system. They move into these seedy areas of big cities, living crammed into apartments like rats, and when/if they get jobs (illegally), they use that money to supplement the benefits their kids are receiving and to send it BACK to their shithole country, to family there! So much of that money doesn’t even go back into our American system.
How many of these illegals who have streamed into our country have gone on to, I don’t know, invent new things, start new businesses where they create jobs for others, get an education to become doctors/lawyers, etc? I bet that number is very, very small. The illegals who come here are parasites who place an enormous burden on our local infrastructure-water/sewer systems, roads, emergency rooms, classroom sizes, etc. yet most don’t/can’t own a home and at least contribute back in the form of paying property taxes. Nor do they have federal taxes/SS/etc. come out of their paychecks since they technically cannot get an “on the books” job.

Yeah, BIG difference between the Irish, Germans, Italians, and other European LEGAL immigrants and these parasite illegal aliens who streamed into our country, KNOWINGLY breaking the law but not giving two shits how their presence affected the American citizens living in the United States.
I just wish Homan could round them ALL up and send them back. Oh, and this has NOTHING to do with what race they are, that’s a tired but often used liberal trope, but it has everything to do with what I said above, coming here, contributing NOTHING yet taking so much and causing so much financial hardship and burden on US citizens. They could give two fucks. That’s why I loathe and detest them. I would feel the same way if it was a torrential wave of Croatians or Swedish people.
