I know a very attractive woman that sells commercial real estate. She comes off as ditzy and aloof, but she’s ruthless in business and has done VERY well.
Of course, you can’t apply the same set of logic to every single person. Pro athletes are another good example that would disprove my reasoning in many cases.
But, none of them have won the presidency twice either.
I will say this, and I actually mean this quite positively about trump.
Trump, as intellectually/academically stupid as I think he is, has a very specific set of skills that are very well suited for politics. On top of the facts that He is absolutely shameless and bullshits with the best in the world, he has an intuitive sense to say things that tap into people’s emotions like no one else I have ever seen.
I dont know if its because of the lying and bullshitting, or something else, but democrats dont have someone half as capable of forming the emotional connection Trump has with his base.
He says things in ways that let people “know” hes serious about certain things even if he says something contradictory the next sentence or if it completely contradicts reality. His People walk away “knowing” what he means (take him seriously but not literally as they used to say)
For example: He recently said egg prices are down 92% … when I hear that - knowing that egg prices are absolutely not down 92% - I hear a complete moron, but somehow lots and lots of people hear that and walk away “knowing” hes absolutely going to lower the price of eggs (and groceries in general and the price of basically everything)
When he says that Mexico “sends” rapists and drug dealers here, his supporters hear a guy serious about immigration
When he did his whole big tariff thing and showed his print out of the “reciprocal tariffs”, his supporters see a big strong man hitting back at the people screwing us over, I see a simpleton who doesn’t understand how trade works and how it benefits both parties and that trade deficits dont = a tariff
So to a certain segment of the population he has a way of conducting business and saying things that really, really speaks to their monkey brain in a way that my brain simply doesn’t respond to the same way
So I will say this, He does have a way of talking to people id in a way I’ve never seen before. Lots of people cant even explain why they like him in any concrete, policy driven way… they can’t name one thing he actually signed into law they like, but they just know he gives off the right vibe
He even managed to capture the bible belt… Can you name someone less biblically ideal that Trump? But somehow he gets to break all the rules and they love him. No ones turns the other cheek less, casts fewer stones first, cheats on more wives with porn stars than trump… But he says the right words and they latch onto with a fervor that is unmatchable.
I think its an intuitive thing, he does have a very good gut sense of what “the people” (enough of them anyway) value and want to hear, like when he had his roast and said the only thing they couldn’t say was he wasn’t as rich as he made out… he had an intuitive sense that him being rich was too important to his whole thing to have any doubt cast on it
You can be very rich and successful without high IQ.
Human intelligence is quite wide topic to discuss, but success in life does not always correlate with how intelligent you are.
I would say the same. I’m not sure how high his IQ is, but he is cunning and smart. He’s good to get people behind him and has certain ruthless needed with ”deal making”.
I can’t stand his way of speaking though, he’s almost like a cartoon character.

There are different kinds of intelligence. IQ alone is a very poor indicator of life success.
My sister in law does gene therapy research at a high level but becomes angry if you disagree with her woke ideas. Whatever intelligence she has evaporates into her emotional state if you disagree with her.

But I get your point, and I agree with you. You have to have certain set of skills (and a lot of money and relations) to get where Trump is now. He’s no great speaker, but clearly can get people behind him in some way.
So her emotional intelligence is poor.
Some people have really hard time understanding that not everybody agrees with them and they might be wrong at times.
If you are male and married, you should be used to being wrong.

It could be, but the irony of that is she views her political opinions as coming from an ability to empathize with people less fortunate.
I think she’s also susceptible to appeals to authority. “Experts say” all of her political beliefs are well informed. The same experts said the same thing about every radical, transformative policy implemented in Maine and Washington DC.
It all sounds great until you have to live with rapidly declining social conditions. It’s easy to advocate for vague concepts that sound lofty and noble. It is not so easy to explain why “equity” requires you to tolerate regular gun battles in your neighborhood, when there were none before.
I think the chart has it right. Woke white women want to be seen as saviors and moral arbiters. What happens in the wake of their policy enactments is of zero concern.

As for the voter ID elsewhere, it’s a secondary issue of access. Republicans go out of their way to make it hard for certain types of poeple in certain locations to get the ID, fix that and voter ID is unproblematic
So is everything else though.
