The second chance act says non-violent prisoners can get a year of half-way house or home detainment as part of their sentence. Much cheaper than keeping them in prison. Last week the BOP said no one gets more than 2 months to save money. It makes zero sense. There were people who were told they’d be out in May that won’t be out until January of next year. This is after Pam Bondi said she wants to use the Second Chance Act and First Step Act MORE. The place my wife is can’t afford printer paper, toilet paper, and they are running out of food. But their plan to fix that is to keep MORE people there. It’s insane.

Pot is still illegal where I live and we go a little bit crazy with random roadside testing to book people (1500$ fine, court date and immediate suspension of drivers license for 3-6 months) who have taken it 2-3 days ago
But when it comes to actually smoking pot it’s hardly ever enforced… I can’t think of the last time I heard of someone going to court over smoking pot alone (aside from the driving thing)
Even growing, I spoke to a guy who was busted for growing 1000 plants and the sentence was 12 months in prison…
We have the worlds highest rate of methamphetamine addiction here, thst and the criminal justice system here is literally falling apart at the seems
Like you guys are focusing on this 17 year old killing his dog and parents… I wouldn’t be surprised if that guy was only given 15 years here where I live… I remember when one woman ran over and killed an Asian guy in a hate crime and she was only given ten years.

Police know about this individual but seemingly weren’t interested in pressing charges, and scarily enough after an investigation concludes through government regulatory agency I imagine this person will be able to practice again after a number of years
I’m sorry… if you forge prescriptions in another doctors name, fuck patients, manipulate and pretend to be someone you are not (I can go on) you should NEVER be practicing medicine ever again and police should absolutely be throwing every charge they possibly can at you… but here the criminal justice system has absolutely gone to shit imo.
