Wish we had a decent black Cowboy movie. Posse was weak and Danny Glover died in Lonesome Dove. FUCK!!
I’m not sure if this qualifies as decent:)

Is this a joke? John Wayne was one of the shittiest actors ever. Jeff Bridges will own this.
Wow every time I hear Johnny Cash I get goosebumps.

Why remake what was already a classic movie? It looks like they have copied it scene for scene?
I would have much preferred to see the same actors take on an original script.
Yeah, except the Duke died 31 years ago.
I think he means Bridges, Damon, and Brolin.
I’d rather them do this movie. True grit is a good movie. Nobody gives a shit that they redo Scrooge every year. No one gets their panties in a twist when a play company does Shakespeare. I don’t get this thing about people getting upset about remaking of movies.

Dude, it wasn’t just white guys from Oklahoma or Texas back then. You had African and Native Americans riding across the country, kickin ass, and taking names.
Calm down, I know you can touch the rim.
But, the fact remains that there weren’t a lot of black cowboys. And, most of the gangs were of the variety of Quantrill’s Raiders (not from Ok or Texas, but Missouri). I would like to see a good representation of blacks in the west, I mean you do have Wild Wild West, but I’d rather see a movie depict more of a truthful stance of blacks back in that time period besides just looking at the share croppers.

I think you will see the problem in the extended version of your answer:

White people kicked black people’s asses and Indian’s asses, and Mexican asses, as well as had their own asses handed to them.

I’ll punch you like a horse’s mouth if you speak such filth about the Duke again.

Just because he’s scared as shit of the possibility of Sarah Palin becoming President and you want it to happen!
Most people are on his side.
ie. She can’t even run for the gop nominee because she became a media whore.

THIS! You cannot remake a John Wayne movie! It’s just wrong! Besides, every other remake of a classic movie has sucked. You’d have thought Hollywood would have learned by now.
I will see this movie because of Jeff Bridges. I will hate this movie because of Matt Damon.

My point is that Hollywood has been more comfortable when the whites are kicking ass, not when their asses are being kicked.

I don’t think Hollywood would care unless the their audience cared.

Apparently you missed my post earlier. It’s not a remake, but a more accurate depiction of the novel it was based off. This and the fact that most young people will never see the version with John Wayne.

Well, I don’t care if it’s more accurate. It was already done by John Wayne, therefore it is a remake. And young people need to see and learn a lot more than John Wayne movies. This world is fucked when they take over. Hopefully I’ll be too old or dead to care.
Danny Glover in Silverado…got revenge, lived in the end.
Cleavon Little: Blazing Saddles, “Where da white women at?” Rumored to be my first words.

what made john Wayne such a famous actor was the fact that he was never in the military, but having grown up in the west, was the picture of America, the embodiment of what Americans stood for. but since this isn’t a remake of the original but rather a different screenplay more closely following the book, it really isn’t bridges playing Wayne’s character. so there isn’t any problem. looks like a good movie to me too.
