True Freedom and True Heroism

Hi,

Do you want to be truely free? Ron Paul isn’t going to give it to you!

Are you a courageous soul?

Watch this and think about it.

Peace be with you

Erasmus

…just have to ask: who are you going to vote for in june?

I only watched 3 mins, whats the point of this? are you a liberal? contructivist? marxist?

Voting is stupid, only the mislead believe that its going to change anything.
He talks about that in another video.

The point is very simple! I want to talk to you about the (IMO) most sane political filosophy.
I think the state is unneccesary and inevitably corrupted and tyranical.
You guys are a libertyloving people so i thought i might just catch on to you.
If you watch the entire video it will be obvious to you that I sincerly believe that anarchism (so no state, or if some governance, a voluntary one)
is the ONLY sustainable way for mankind to live in peace.

If a cartoon is better suited to illustrate my problem with the state then here it is.

You’re assuming that man’s nature is a peaceful one … anthropologically speaking you’re wrong

I think we are all born peaceful and have the potential at birth to remain so.
So I’m sure there will be no more wars like we will see today.
You are right though, there will never be no violence, no crime, no hate, no bullies.
But let’s STOP praising violence and STOP assuming that there HAS to be violence to be able to live the way that you want.

I disagree … I think we are born tablua rasa … even outside of society our experiences would leave the impression that violence is necessary to survive as resources are very limited leaving competition for survival inevitable

Oh great, another anarchist. Fucking wonderful. Let’s have this debate again, just with someone who spells it “filosophy.”

Specfuckintacular.

Thanks for the spelling correction, I edited it.

It really seems that you don’t care about living in freedom.
Being a real man that doesn’t call on a bully to get his needs met.
I wonder where all that resentment comes from. (I’m NOT sarcastic and I really mean it) Maybe it’s because you are a government goon i.e government employee.
Curiosity is far more virtuous then writing off somebody’s thoughts with curse words, which is pretty childish imo.

Or you’re just not that in to politics…

LOL

How can one consider human history, psychology, philosophy, theology, personal experience, common sense - and NOT conclude that we are “fallen creatures”?

The alleged “golden ages” are always set far in the unreachable receding future - or far in the unverifiable past - for a good reason: that man is not perfectable. Superbia is an inalienable fault line that runs straight down each of our hearts.

And yet, man is perentially beset with the temptation to creep back under the angel’s flaming sword.

However - and very unfortunately indeed - the attempt to establish the celestial city upon earth leads inexorably to the gallows, the guillotine and the gas chamber.

…Erasmus, having a philosophy is fine and dandy, but how to you propose to make it work in real life? How do you bring this dutch society, or the first world western society, to your brand of anarchy?

I love anarchists. If they did my job for just one day, any among them that are still half sane they would quickly change their minds.

The founders had it right on most things and best struck the balance between freedom and a civil society. Just because we have moved worldwide far too close to authoritarianism doesn’t mean the answer is a complete reboot(which isn’t happening any way short of a massive asteroid).

Anarchy thread always amuse me, because everyone walks into the conversation with totally different preconceptions and definitions about it. Some see it a chaos and unworthy of thought, some see it utopian and worthy of devotion. I think it best to always define what one means by anarchy and then proceed from that point forward in the discussion. So if you are going to comment at least give everyone else your conception of what anarchy consists of. Might help to make the discussion a little more productive.

My personal view is that anarchy is not the absence of any structure or alliances, but the absence of mega-government. - such as “a man is King of his castle” even a state of anarchy will have some structure base don family, community or even tribe, but the basic underlying tenet is each man is his own master.

I love it when people who don’t know, or understand libertarian philosophy try and critique it.

Fail ensues.

Libertarianism is a far better term than anarchism. As you stated, “anarchism” conjures up all sorts of misconceptions.

Agreed, but I think we can also agree that fear is one of the reasons that most people have knee-jerk reactions opposed to anarchy

Maybe, or they think they can’t survive without the government.
