TRT Newbie - Looking Forward to the Journey

Your original post was to change my diet in lieu of TRT which would raise my test to normal levels based off of my LH reading. Do you think I can take my test levels from 245 to normal levels by tweaking my diet?

I think you could raise it by not eating in a deficit and hitting your macros, how much we don’t know, but maybe it’s easier to see if when you didn’t eat in a deficit if you felt better?

In two weeks your balls are going to shutdown. So you will loose your internal production of test, and food wont be a factor in T production at that point. So once youre shutdown you have less test than what you have now, it will be lowered to exactly 100mg/week compared to your start up load which was 100mg plus your endogenous test. So at week 2 you should bump up to lets say 120mg a week to make up for the loss of endogenous production

So should I bump to 120 and then taper back to 100?
Thanks again!

Hey, did a deeper dive on nutrition and increasing test naturally. Unfortunately adding some fats and carbs and a few hundred calories to my diet won’t be able to raise my testosterone 100%+. This is what I figured to begin with but wanted to make sure because you were giving me advice not to take TRT.

I would test in 18 weeks to see if levels are good and if symptoms are resolving. Then assess. Because if you feel good, leave everything as is.

I think you mean 8 weeks, correct?

I think you are right, you did your research before starting TRT
All the best in this new journey man
Cheers

Took my first shot sub-Q.
Warmed up the test in my armpit and injected without any pain or discomfort!
Excited to get started!!

Everything seems to be going well, I think most of the changes I’m feeling (mood, libido etc) are placebo, but I’ll take it.

One odd thing I’ve been feeling is a slight tingle in my scalp, anyone else experience this??

Yes all sort of tingles, testosterone converts to DHT which affects your skin and hair.

Thank you!

Another question.

Say I’m on 100mg/week.
Would it make sense to start day 1 @ 100Mg and then move to 50mg twice a week?
The thought is, front load with the recommended weekly to make the subsequent injections bring you back up.

Thanks!

You start from scratch every time you make the slightest change to your protocol, which puts your hormones into a state of chaos or fluctuations for several weeks.

Pick a protocol and stick with it for 6-8 weeks.

Ah thank you!

I think you’re over stating the effects of making the “slightest” change. You don’t start from scratch as you put it and your system isn’t thrown isn’t to complete chaos. This depends a bit on what the relative change is, but come on.

Should you still wait 6ish weeks to evaluate the change, sure. There’s no need to be hyperbolic.

If you want to front load your first shot, I personally don’t think it’s a problem, I also don’t think it’s necessary.

Thanks wolf, as I thought further about it, even if he’s right, I’m starting from scratch by virtue of just starting TRT… In any event I’m going to do EOD until my first checkup/bloodwork

You did not go into detail regarding your symptoms, but your labs are not very good and if the severity of your symptoms is unacceptable to you, TRT is a good choice.

Most guys starting TRT take 200mg once a week, with very few using less than 150mg. I suspect you’ll need more than 100mg a week, but nothing wrong with starting there. If you research the internet forums, you’ll read a lot about “massive” doses, “dialing in” and being “stable” from guys who are overly sensitive to testosterone and maybe hormones in general. These are outliers and they do not respond normally to TRT. Nothing wrong with more frequent injections, but most do not find that necessary. Keep in mind that most men in the US on TRT are going through their PCP, urologist or an endocrinologist and using twice monthly injections of 200mg. I think they’d do better with weekly, and a higher dose, but they are satisfied with TRT.

Very few are sensitive to slight dosage changes. Years ago, as a competitive weightlifter, guys would start with 200mg a week and increase to as much as 800mg in six weeks. Fluctuations? Seriously?

Start TRT and enjoy the benefits. Don’t focus on how you feel day to day. There will be good days and bad days, days when you’ll have more energy, libido, whatever, than others. It’s OK. It’s normal on or off TRT. Give it some time, at least a month, maybe two. Reassess at that point and go from there. Good luck.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
I am a bit suspect of 100mg/week, in regards to being a bit low. just from what I’ve read online, however I’ve also read it’s better to slowly increase from 100 rather than taper down from 200 for example. Who knows, maybe 100 will be the perfect dose. That would be ideal I suppose.
Anyway, I like the idea of EOD in contrast to twice a week.

Biggest change would be to find someone who will prescribe you a mans dose of T. 100 Being the perfect dose is rare, but trying to figure it out will be hell.

I always say its better to start off on a higher dose and slowly decrease until you find that perfect dose.

Instead of upping the dose every 3 months for a year until you realize you wasted a year. Low T sucks and thats why we want TRT, why wait so long to dial it in is beyond me.

You are literally the first person I’ve ever heard say start high and taper. Interesting perspective.
