TRT Help Please

T is low because LH is low.

We know that thyroid problems can be a primary cause of low T in some guys.

You cannot recover from your iodine deficiency with 150mcg [micro-grams] per day.

Your main focus should be your thyroid.

Were those body temperatures recorded when you first woke up and before you got out of bed?

Is your thyroid big? Neck looks thick there? Feels lumpy or asymmetric? Hi TSH over time can cause this. Low iodine over time can cause this.

I cannot easily interpret your T4 labs without ranges.
However: Thyroid function tests - Wikipedia

Suggests that fT4 mid range would be 13.5, so your 13.9 then appears good. If body temps are as you reported, they a good. This implies that your thyroid function is good but TSH is beating your thyroid to get there and there are serious risks of that. Please confirm body temps and timing.

This is standard advice maintained here:

There is a huge amount of knowledge in the stickies. Please study these. Start with the advice for new guys sticky.

There is a lot to read there, so read carefully. There are suggestions for things that are root causes of low testosterone [T]. Low T is a symptom, not a root cause itself. But low T itself is a root cause of many of the symptoms one experiences. Note that other things cause the same spectrum of symptoms, so do not have T tunnel vision. Many docs are guilty of that and they only treat the symptom [low T] and do not attempt to find the real problem. If you go to a clinic that specializes in low T, you will get T tunnel vision for sure.

Post info about yourself as suggested in the above sticky. We need labs, almost all of your labs, not just hormones. We also need the lab ranges.

We see a very high number of thyroid issues in the population of guys that show up here. So there is a strong focus on that. Most people are iodine deficient to some degree. Your history of iodine intake from iodized salt and vitamins that list iodine is important. If you become iodine deficient, the RDA [recommended daily allowance] is inadequate for recovery of iodine stores. Please see the thyroid basics sticky for more information.

You do not want to suffer from subclinical hypothyroidism or get Rx thyroid meds to treat iodine deficiency.

If you are injecting T or contemplating that, read the protocol for injections sticky.

There are stickies for finding a TRT doc, estradiol [E2] and lab work.

Do not place your history or treatment details in the stickies! That belongs in your thread. Keep all of your posts in your thread so we can have a clear picture of your situation and needs.

Go to stop the thyroid madness.

A good tsh level is 1 anything over 2 is a problem or the beginning of a problem

Body temps will be low no need to check this

I’d like to see shbg numbers out of curiosity

What would you like to know? Listen man the thyroid is complicated and we can guide you but you really need a good endocrinologist to deal with this issue and you can read all day people’s opinions and even books but not even many endos understand the thyroid. We are all different and react different…

Before you go to the endo.

Hi again and thank you all for your help its making a real difference In my approach.

My temperature this morning was 36.7 like the others this was taken pretty much as soon as I wake up whilst stil imbed.

I’m seeing my gp in the next week and will explain why I disagree with his diagnosis and will ask him if I can have more tests
Into my thyroid function rather than rush into trt which may make me sterile and stop me from having a family

Is their anything else I should say/ask? If he refuses what should I do ?

Your waking temperatures seem good. Can you get to 98.6 F / 37C mid afternoon when not eating, talking or drinking for a while?

So your thyroid function, in terms of body temperature is not at this point an obvious issue.

But, your TSH, poor absorption of transdermal T, brittle hair/nails and getting cold easily are symptoms of hypothyroidism.

You may have effects of long term iodine deficiency [ID] and your 6 months of iodized salt is not expected to fix the deficiency. If you need .75 grams of iodine to recover and get 150 micro gram s per day now, after 6 months you have consumed .027 grams and most of that has cleared your body. Iodine may be a major factor in your current condition and you can be stuck with lingering effects of ID.

You have secondary hypogonadism based on your lab results. You can see if you can recover with an HPTA restart. This can be done with hCG then a SERM or SERM only and some AI use is recommended as well. I do not know where you are or what options are available where you are.

You can also ask for a trial of thyroid meds. Suggest a product that contains T3 and T4. If you feel better, that is a very important diagnostic observation and perhaps the only one that matters.

Iodine is not the only factor in low body temps do not load iodine unless your doctor has ran the above tests and feels it would be right for you. As I said a thyroid specialist should be taking care of thyroid problems not ksman. He is not a thyroid doctor and can walk away after it has adverse effects and ignore it…

50 mg is 333 times the recommended daily dose and could induce a auto immune disease into full swing with heavy loading… Naturally people would never take that much iodine in a day. It’s fucking dumb
